Our footsteps echoed around us bouncing off the glossy marble walls and up to the high ceilings. In front of me two grand stair cases curved round and down as if to lure you upstairs. However this isn't what caught my attention, in the gap between the two stair cases lay a singular wooden door. It seemed so out of place in such a grand house, a bit like me. I looked down at my grubby blood stained clothes; so much for a first impression. Reaching the door Jason knocked loudly. The door opened and Ryan's hand on my back nudged me in. "Remember what I said kid" he reminded me. Walking in, I felt claustrophobic. Although the room seemed to be a good size, the large men surrounding the desk made me feel very small. I looked back to see the twins blocking the door. There was no escape. Trying desperately to control my breath I looked closer at the faces in front of me. My eyes latched on to Slade and he beaconed towards me. All the men in the room looked Slade's age and older, a lot of their faces reminded of  ruby players, a bit beaten up with a side order of cabbage ears as Harrie would say. One things for sure these men had been in their fair share of fights. I caught one of the men's eye and he winked at me, I shivered in disgust. Slimy was the word that came to mind. His slightly greying hair had more gel than hair in all honesty that combined with his yellow chipped teeth and perverted smile screamed one word. Creep.

I turned my attention at the front where my eyes landed on another familiar face sitting at the desk. There sat Mr Dean Johnson, Slade's father. " 'Ello love, fancy seeing you here!" My eyes widened and I stood up straight trying not to wince from the pain of stretching my bruised stomach. "Mr Johnson, how lovely to see you." Even I could hear that I did not sound genuine. He scoffed and stood next to his son. "Mr Johnson, Adele I remember you running around naked in my garden when you were knee hight. There's no need for formalities." Each man around the room gained a smirk on their faces. I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. Narrowing my eyes at him I said. "Yes well, a lot's changed since then, hasn't it Mr Johnson?" He chuckled and moved closer to me, he froze, surveying my face, his eyes focused on my injuries. His tone suddenly got less jokey. "Slade told me what happened, I'm happy you're here kid." He leaned in closer. "And Adele I'm sorry about your mum." My breath caught in my throat and I held back the tears. I wanted to throw myself on the floor and give up on the world, but now was not the time. "Slade" he said "Go look after her, gentlemen I believe we have some more business to discuss." Slade nodded at his father and guided me out of the room.

"Do you need a drink, something to eat" Slade asked as we walked back into the entrance hall I looked down at my blood matted hair. "Actually can I have a shower? I want to feel like a human again" I gestured to my hair. "Of course,  you can use my shower" He took my hand and started pulling me upstairs. I pulled back. I saw a glint of hurt in his eyes and I instantly felt guilt but I just didn't feel comfortable with him anymore. As we made our way up the marble steps the room began spin, shaking my head I carried on until my legs gave out on me. I just managed to stop my face smashing onto the cold floor. "El! Are you ok?" Slade helped me up. "Yeah I'm fine honestly, I just got a little dizzy." I tried to pull away from him again but he wouldn't let me. "Don't be an idiot, let me help you." He picked me up in his arms. At first I resisted but after a while the gentle sway became comforting. He laid me down on a bed, I looked around the room and could see straight away the masculinity in the room. Dark colours, a black carpet scattered with joggers, jeans and jumpers. By the looks of the games console and shelves and shelves of games I could tell this was Slade's man cave.

"The shower's in there and the towels are on the back of the door." He pointed to a door next to his wardrobe. "Do you need any help?" I pushed myself up wincing slightly. "No I'm sure I'll be fine." I limped towards the door. "Slade?" He looked up. "Can I get some clean clothes?"
"Oh yeah, I'll lay something out for you. Call me if you need anything?"  I nodded and made my way into the bathroom and shut the door behind me. My jaw dropped at the sight in front of me. The black and white tiles covered the whole room which was bigger than most bedrooms. The shower was double the size of any shower I'd ever seen and yet there was still space for a beautiful crafted stand alone bath tub. I felt like I had just walked in to a home design catalogue.

I looked at myself in the wall length mirror over the sink. I looked... Shit. I had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying out as I peeled my top over my head. The right side of my rib and stomach area was purple with foot shaped bruises. I had little cuts all down the side of my face from the glass picture frame Cindy smashed. A clear trickle of water fell down my cheek. I knew my situation at home was bad, I didn't realise it would come to this. Sobbing slightly, I climbed into the shower and allowed the water to absorb my tears.

............................................

I gently patted myself dry, hissing as I touched my sore spots. Freezing, I remembered something. The clean clothes were outside, where Slade was. " Slade?" I called out. Surprised when I got no answer, I peaked my head of the door. "Slade?" I repeated. He was nowhere in sight, he must have left. Tentatively I walked out of the bathroom and towards the bed tightening my grip on the towel. Laid out was a blue  hoodie and grey jogging bottoms, they were far too long for me and very clearly Slade's. "Gotta work with what I got." I sighed. Dropping my towel I picked up the hoodie and compared it to my body. I could've worn it as a dress! "El are you..." The door flew open and Slade's voice filled the room. Squealing, I clung the hoodie to my body. I looked and saw Slade, panicked, confused and embarrassed. Well, he wasn't as embarrassed as I was. "I um I just left to.... Sorry I wasn't expecting you to be like well um.... Should I leave?" He rambled. I frantically nodded unable to make words come out of my mouth. He went to leave before turning as if to say something before shaking his head and swiftly making his way out of the door. I stayed frozen in that position for what felt like a century. Shock filled my head not allowing any other thought in. All of a sudden I started to giggle hysterically. It's either laugh or cry, I thought to myself. Slade Johnson had nearly just seen it all and he hasn't even taken me out on a date. I wonder what Harry would say.

Soppy bit aside, thought I'd put a bit of spice in there between Adele and Slade. I like both of them but I have a feeling it's not gunna be a smooth ride 😅 though it never is. Wonder what you guys think of them? Just friends or more?
