Y/n couldn't seem to stop smiling since she and her mother got back home. She hadn't felt this way before and it felt so good that she believed that this will make her heart explode with excitement and euphoria.
It was her first dance in so many years, in fact. Her last dance was with her father and she was still ten at those years. Her father was the one who taught her how to dance the waltz and it is the very reason she didn't dance with any man after her father died, for she wanted to cherish it within her memories. However, it seems to be like her father sent someone for her. Someone who would never make her feel uncomfortable. Mr Magindara was the only man that Y/n trusted to dance with, but now...she has Draco — but of course, she still thinks of him as her friend. How blind of her, indeed.
She was laying down on her bed, repeating the same scenario that had just happened earlier, the way Draco held her waist as he stared deeply into her eyes. However, this daydreaming only lasted when she heard her mother's voice.
"Why are you smiling?" Y/n got startled by her mother that it made her sit up from her bed.
"Nothing." She replied quickly, clearing her throat. "When did you get in here?"
"Not for long. I have been calling your name, knocking on your door thrice, and you seem to never answer nor even open the door." There was a hint of irritation in Mrs Magindara's voice. "You have been distracted by something all throughout the evening after we left the Ball. Do pray tell, what seems to be on my daughter's mind that she even forgot to place her gown in the laundry basket." She looked at the gown hanging on the chair in front of her vanity table.
"I'm sorry, Inay." Y/n got up and picked up the gown she wore earlier. "I was just having deep thoughts." She went to the bathroom and placed her gown in the laundry basket.
"You said you weren't thinking of something." Her mother said monotonously. "Or rather I should say, someone." A brow was raised on her mother's face.
Y/n felt like someone caught her throat and even her breathing. She did not expect her mother would think that she was thinking of someone. She wouldn't pop that thought up whenever she noticed Y/n was zoned out. But when she made mention of it, she knew that this is not going to be good.
"Someone?" She acted as if she was oblivious to what her Inay had just said.
"Don't lie to me, Y/n." The way her mother expressed her cold emotions toward her gave her this feeling of fear that she wanted to escape this room.
"I'm not."
"Draco, isn't it? That author you're always with."
Again, she felt like someone grabbed her throat, stopping her from speaking. This gave Mrs Magindara a chance to speak her doubts.
"How were your meet-ups with him? Has he finished the book?"
"He hasn't finished the book, inay," Y/n replied.
"And yet, supposedly, it was only for the book, isn't it?"
"Yes."
"Lie."
"Pardon?"
"I do not think it's only for his book." Mrs Magindara stared at her daughter, making her expose his true feelings for the young man. However, the problem was that Y/n still believes that these feelings were only meant by friendship and nothing more. "I do have heard that he doesn't follow the schedule of the time you'll meet him. He would go to the Theatre house to meet you even though he doesn't really have any schedule with you, did he?"
Y/n was again left speechless.
"Was he courting you?"
"Why would he be, inay?"
"From the way, he looks at you, he certainly has feelings for you," Her mother stated. "And even...yourself."
Y/n was, of course, oblivious to these kinds of things, for she hasn't felt anything like it or seen anything like it. It was her first time, and she may be smart but she was dumb at this kind of feeling, the feeling of falling in love.
"Me?" Y/n's brows curled. "Why would I— inay, what do you mean I look at him as if I took interest in him? He's only a friend and nothing more."
"A friend who looks at you that way?" Mrs Magindara crossed her arms on her chest. "I am not a fool, Y/n. Admit it, you have developed feelings for him."
"Inay, he's aware that I do not wish to—"
"Just a yes or no, Y/n."
"No."
"Then you should stop meeting him."
"Pardon?" Her eyes slightly widened, staring at her mother in confusion. "But, inay, he hasn't finished the book and he needed i—"
"I do not care." She exclaimed. "All that matters is that YOU do not develop any feelings for that young man and destroy your career." Her mother's eyes were raging with fire like Y/n had never seen before and it made her speechless and frightened.
This is what Y/n doesn't want to happen due to the fact that her mother has reached the point that she never could imagine.
"Is he the reason why you have been missing your night practices in the dance room?"
"Oh my god, inay. This is ridiculous." She scoffed. "Can I not just rest?"
"You have to take every opportunity, child. I poured my sweat and blood for you! Can't you see?" Mrs Magindara rasped. "We have been working hard for this so that you could be known, and you can't just leave your dreams for a man."
"How many times do I have to make it clear to you?" Tears were forming in Y/n's eyes and her voice began to break. No, she wasn't crying because of sadness. She was crying because of anger. "There's nothing going on between me and Draco. He's merely a friend, inay."
"And that could not only stay as that!"
Silence fell between them, for Mrs Magindara's last words made her daughter speechless again. Y/n may be known for being bold, but when it comes to her mother, she becomes weak like what Draco felt towards his father during his school years.
"You are not to see him anymore starting tomorrow." Her mother cleared her throat.
"What?" She flickered her eyes, wanting to hear it again from her mother's lips.
"I said what I said, Y/n." She stated coldly. "But if you disobey me, then I must regret to say that you will be sent to Russia."
Russia is very well known to teach ballet the best, but Y/n doesn't want to go there because she wouldn't be able to visit her father's grave. Another reason was...she never wanted to be apart from Draco because he was the only male friend she have ever trusted in her whole life. She just couldn't put their friendship to an end. It was just wrong.
"I shall bid you good night, Y/n. You must rest well for tomorrow." Then there her mother left, leaving Y/n alone in her room, still processing everything about what she'll have to do now.
