I awoke from the couch early in the morning. I hadn't gotten that great of sleep in quite some time. I smiled for the first time in a while. I got up to make myself some coffee. Always need coffee I muttered.
I took my coffee mug onto the deck where I had fallen asleep last night. I sat down in the rocking chair and smiled lightly at the scenery. This was a place of absolute peace. I sat there most of the morning just drinking my coffee and thinking about my book I was currently trying to write. After a while I decided to go inside and work. I went inside and decided to start a fire to find that there wasn't much wood left. I brought the rest of the wood inside and decided I should chop a good chunk up and stack it. Besides my book could wait.
I grabbed my speaker and turned on my downloaded music and began hauling wood over to chop. I took out most of frustration with swinging my axe. God this was great for my mental health. I was full of sweat and my muscles were getting soar when I heard a loud roar of a truck pulling up on the property.
I wasn't expecting visitors so I grabbed my axe for safety. Just in case you can never be to safe. I looked up at the truck. To see a group of men getting out of it. They looked around the place then saw me standing on the side of the house clutching the axe for dear life. They were very big men. Very muscular and tall.
I took a huge gulp. One of them smiled and started to walk over to me. His friends followed.
Hi, my names Matthew Claw. We live a couple miles away and heard we had a new neighbor to welcome. These are my friends Dean Stark, Tony Reeves and Greyson Riley.
I looked over Matthews gestures at the mention of Dean. I looked at him and he looked familiar. Holy crap is that the guy from the coffee house. Why is he here in Scotland. I smiled at them and recognized on of the other men grey also from the coffee house.
Regina Rain, nice to meet you all. I think I know a couple of you already from when I was living in the states. I stated looking at Dean.
Regina? Oh my gosh what are you doing in Scotland? Dean asked looking at me in surprised face.
I moved here literally yesterday. What are you two doing here. I said pointing at him and one of the other men with black hair.
We live here in Scotland. We were in the states on business. I'm Greyson, Deans bestfriend. He said sticking his hand out for me to shake. I took it and shook it.
Well, thanks for the welcome wagon. I apologize I'm in the middle of chopping wood for the cabin. If you would like we can go inside and I can try to whip up something for lunch.
Sure, we would love that. I can also have Tony help finish chopping your wood if you like. Matthew stated.
No thanks. I wouldn't want to impose. I also really like doing things on my own. I am a super independent woman. I chuckled.
Sounds good. I wont tell you how to live your life. Matthew said with a laugh.
I gestured for them to come in my house. I told them they can look around or grab a seat and Ill prepare some lunch. They nodded there heads and went around. Clearly they wanted to see the house.
I was just going to make some sandwiches for everyone and myself. I grabbed the fixings from the fridge and put them on the counter. Then went to grab the bread when I forgot I stored it up high yesterday so any creatures would have a hard time finding it. I quickly jumped on the counter and reached for the cabinet. I was almost about to reach the handle when someone cleared there throat.
I turned around to see Dean eyeing me. I chuckled can I help you.
More like can I help you he stated with a grin.
Nope I've got it thanks. I said quickly and reached up and pulled the handle snagging the bread. I chucked it on the counter next to my other ingredients. I went to step down when I missed my stepping and started to fall.
Dean quickly ran up to me and caught me in an instant. He helped me to my feet. I patted his shoulder. Thanks for that. I am quite accident prone I said laughing.
Ever hear of maybe a step stool he asked with amusement in his voice.
Yeah I have but even then I have to get basically a ladder to help me. I said laughing. He joined in my laughter. I started working on making the sandwiches and Dean came over and helped me.
So why Scotland dean asked while throwing some cheese on a sandwich.
I guess I have always been fascinated with the landscape and I just didn't want to be around the states and people there as much. I said with a small smile.
Yeah this land is beautiful. I have lived here all my life. I've seen the rest of the world is the most beautiful place on earth. Dean stated.
Yeah, It takes my breath away every time. I smiled at him.
Regina, I went back to the coffee house a couple days after we meet and I heard the news. I am really sorry for your loss. I would like to offer you my friendship while your hear in Scotland. Dean stated.
Thank you Dean. I would like that very much. Please come over whenever you want to. I'm not that busy out here. I told him.
He gave me a smile and nodded his head in agreement that he would. We finished making the sandwiches and the men showed up just as I put it on the counter.
They quickly grabbed the food and ate it. We had small talk for a while I offered them all to come over when ever and they all agreed that they would be over here when they can. After a couple hours of hanging out. Matthew, Greyson and Tony said they had to leave. Dean said he was going to stay here for a little while and would call for a ride later. They took off and left giving me hugs goodbye. It felt like we had all been friends for a long time. It was definitely interesting to say the least.
