The Kings Mate

Chapter 9

Dean and I hate spent the last couple days together getting to know each other. We talked about a lot of things except my past. He told me of his family and how he was next in line for his fathers business. I told him about my family and what I wanted in life and he was so kind about everything. 

Dean usually comes over in the mid mornings to greet me and we spend the day together. However today he said he had a business issue and wouldn't be able to stop by. I was fine with that because I wanted the personal space. I had planned to explore the area and have lunch at the waterfall. I wanted to collect some plants that Dean had showed me earlier and document them. 

I grabbed my basket with my journal and the lunch I made and head out into the forest down the path to the waterfall. I had collected at least 20 different variety's of plants and was marking them down. I put my little labels on the bundles I did grab so I could dry them out and use them. I made it to the waterfall and decided to have a little swim before eating. 

I undressed down to my underwear and jumped in the water. So refreshing I thought. I dove down and started collecting some really pretty rocks and then went to the surface. I got out thru my rocks in my basket and laid out my picnic blanket and food. I quickly thru on my clean clothes and sat down to eat. 

I was sitting down eating when I had heard a loud crunching coming thru the forest. Like something huge was running. I got up to look and see if I could see anything. I didn't see anything. All of a sudden a giant wolf came crashing out of the tree line. It took one look at me and then started coming at me. I ran towards the water fall to get away from it. I was no match to its speed. Before I could get to the waterfall it reached its claws out and scratched my back. I screamed in pain and fell. The wolf took its opportunity and bit me in the leg and started pulling me away from the water. I used my free leg to kick him in the snout hard. 

It yelped in pain and let go. With adrenaline in my veins I pulled myself up and limped to the water quickly. I dove in and swam to the bottom holding onto a rock to keep myself below the water from the wolf. I quickly swam towards the cave and pushed thru it just as I felt the wolf enter the water.

 I quickly swam to the edge and pulled my body out of the water. 

I looked at my leg. It was covered in blood. I was positive my back looked the same. I quickly pulled of my clothing and ripped it to get bandages ready. I looked around to find anything that would help the process of healing. I found a plant that looked similar to one that Dean had shown me. I quickly grabbed 2 stones and placed the plants on one rock and began to grind the plant into a paste. I spread it on the wound and bandaged my leg. 

My cuts on my back where a little bit harder to put the paste on but I did the best I could do. I wrapped  the rest of my back up and tied the clothing the best I could. I looked around for an opening to leave but I couldn't see any. Which meant I would have to go the same way I came. Wasn't an option right now due to the wolf possibly still out there waiting for my return and my leg was starting to throb. 

I collected some moss and sat up against a large rock resting my leg. I wouldn't be moving for a little bit anyways. I slowly feel asleep listening to the water hit the edge of the cave.
