Mina’s Room

The room was in shambles—shards of glass glinted on the floor as the shattered mirror reflected Mina’s distorted image. She stood amidst the chaos, breathing heavily, her face twisted in fury. Her trembling hands balled into fists, and she kicked over a vase, letting it shatter against the wall.

Mina (screaming): “Everything! Every damn thing I worked for, destroyed in a single day! These nine years… Nine years of ruling this palace, of being the queen in all but name. And now, she’s back to ruin it all!”

Her voice cracked as the storm of emotions raged inside her. Tears brimmed in her eyes, but she furiously wiped them away.

Mina (to herself): “No. No, I won’t cry. I can’t cry. Crying is for the weak, and I am not weak. I will not let her take this from me… not after everything I’ve done to get here.”

Her gaze shifted to the gilded crown resting on its pedestal, a symbol of power, prestige, and everything she had ever wanted. Slowly, she approached it, her movements deliberate. She picked it up and placed it on her head, turning to the cracked shards of the mirror to examine herself.

Mina (whispering): “See? How perfect it looks on me. I was born to wear this crown. I am destined to be queen. No one—no one—will take it from me. And Taehyung… He’s mine. This palace is mine. That woman can never have them back. I’ll show her… and my mother. I’ll prove that I can have everything I want.”

Her voice turned colder, more determined.

Mina (hissing): “If she takes this crown, my mother’s curse will come true. I can’t let that happen. No one can know my weakness. Taehyung belongs to me, not her. I won’t lose him… or this kingdom. I’ve never lost before, and I never will.”

Her monologue was interrupted by a low, mocking voice.

???: “Then you’d better get ready to lose.”

Mina spun around, startled, her hand flying to her chest. Her breath hitched as her eyes fell on Jungkook, who stood in the doorway, leaning casually against the frame, a smirk playing on her lips.

Jungkook: “What’s wrong, Mina? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

Before Mina could respond, Jungkook stepped into the room, her presence commanding. Her calm demeanor contrasted sharply with Mina’s frantic state. Jungkook’s eyes flicked to the crown perched on Mina’s head.

Jungkook (coldly): “That doesn’t belong to you.”

She strode forward, ignoring Mina’s protests, and yanked the crown off her head. With reverence, Jungkook placed it back on its pedestal, bowing slightly before turning back to face Mina.

Jungkook (sternly): “Before you start dreaming of being queen, you should grow your standards. And maybe your morals, too. A title like this isn’t for someone like you.”

Mina’s eyes burned with rage as she lashed out.

Mina: “See this? This is your true face. You’re just a selfish, arrogant bitch who’ll never let someone like me—someone poor—reach the top!”

Jungkook’s laugh was sharp and humorless, her gaze icy.

Jungkook: “Oh, spare me your victim act. Do you think this is some melodramatic act of soap opera? Where you’re the ‘poor, innocent village girl,’ and I’m the ‘rich, evil villain’? Grow up, Mina. Every poor person isn’t good, and every rich person isn’t bad. You think I don’t know about your crimes? Your schemes? I know everything. I stayed quiet because Taehyung didn’t believe me. But that ends now.”

Mina’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

Mina: “You know the difference between you and me, Jungkook? You always think about others. I think about myself. That’s why I win.”

Jungkook (scoffing): “Do you even hear yourself? Do you really think your selfishness is some kind of virtue?”

Mina shrugged, unbothered.

Mina: “It’s not about virtues. It’s about winning.”

Jungkook’s expression hardened, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.

Jungkook: “Then start counting backward, Mina. Because I promise you this—every single day you spend here will be hell. I’ll make sure of it. This isn’t just a promise to you—it’s a promise to myself.”

Mina’s smirk faltered for a moment before she recovered.

Mina (mocking): “Let’s see whose life becomes hell first, Jungkook.”

Jungkook didn’t dignify her with a response. She turned on her heel and left, her footsteps echoing through the corridor.

As the door slammed shut, Mina stared at the crown on the pedestal.

Mina (muttering): “She thinks she can scare me? I’ll show her what I’m capable of. She’ll regret ever coming back.”

Taehyung’s Chambers

Taehyung sat by the large window in his chambers, watching the gardens below. His eyes were glued to the scene unfolding outside—his son, Taegguk, was laughing and chatting animatedly with Jungkook. The sight made his heart ache.

Taegguk looked so happy, so carefree. It was a sight Taehyung hadn’t seen in years, and he knew it was because of Jungkook’s return. But that joy was bittersweet.

Taehyung (to himself): He’s happy because of her. Our son smiled because of her. Not me.

He clenched his fists, the longing in his chest almost unbearable. How much he wanted to join them, to hold his son and laugh with them as a family. But something held him back—fear, guilt, and the weight of his mistakes.

What hurt him even more was Jungkook’s coldness. She was deliberately ignoring him, and it was tearing him apart.

Taehyung (muttering): “I deserve this. But… I just want to hear it. Just once. I want to hear her say, ‘I love you.’”

His gaze stayed fixed on Jungkook, his heart heavy with unspoken words and unfulfilled dreams.
