Taehyung’s Chamber
The dimly lit room bore an aura of heaviness, the kind that lingered in forgotten memories. Taehyung stood frozen, his eyes fixed on the newly hung picture on the wall. His breath hitched, his heart thundering in his chest as if attempting to leap out. The photograph wasn’t just an image—it was a piece of his soul, long buried and suddenly unearthed.
Taehyung (whispering to himself): “This photo...”
His trembling fingers reached out, but before he could touch the frame, the sound of hurried footsteps broke the silence. Mina, his so-called wife, stormed into the room, her face contorted in anger.
Mina (yelling): “What the hell is this, Taehyung?!”
Taehyung didn’t even turn to face her. His eyes remained glued to the picture. The emotions coursing through him were far too intense for him to indulge her tantrum.
Taehyung (calmly, but with authority): “Don’t shout.”
Mina paused, taken aback by his tone. She was used to his cold demeanor but not this composed intensity.
Mina (still fuming): “Fine, I won’t shout. But answer me, Taehyung! Why is her picture here? It wasn’t here yesterday.”
The mention of “yesterday” made Taehyung finally turn to her, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
Taehyung: “Yesterday? How dare you enter my room without my permission, Mina?”
Mina (defiantly): “Taehyung, I am your wife and the queen of this kingdom. I can do whatever I want.”
A bitter laugh escaped Taehyung’s lips, but there was no humor in it—only disdain.
Taehyung: “Mina, get out of my room.”
Mina’s eyes widened in disbelief. She wasn’t used to being dismissed so curtly.
Mina (indignant): “Before I leave, tell me—why is her photo here?”
Ignoring her, Taehyung called out firmly.
Taehyung: “John!”
The loyal servant entered the room hastily, bowing deeply.
Mina (furiously pointing at the photo): “What is her photo doing here, John?!”
John didn’t so much as glance at Mina, his gaze fixed respectfully on Taehyung.
John: “Your Majesty?”
Taehyung: “Why is this photo here?”
John hesitated, but he knew better than to delay an answer.
John: “The prince ordered us to place it here, Your Majesty.”
Taehyung’s eyes widened, his mind racing.
Taehyung: “The prince…?”
John: “Yes, Your Majesty. Prince Taegguk entered the forbidden room earlier today. We tried to stop him, but Princess Jiya and Master Yoongi permitted it.”Before Taehyung could respond, a knock echoed from the doorway. The messenger stepped in, bowing low.
Messenger: “Your Majesty, a message has arrived from King Wang Yibo.”
The mention of the name made Mina freeze. Her defiance faltered, replaced by nervousness. Taehyung, however, remained stoic. He dismissed both John and the messenger after taking the letter. As the door shut, he unfolded the parchment, his hands shaking slightly. His heart skipped a beat as he read the familiar handwriting.
