Sorry for the late chapter, had a busy weekend.
Lets start the chapter!!
After the façade with Undyne, you're exhausted. You and Sans lay on the couch, watching a cooking show, starring a strange robot. It's honestly quite entertaining, it's nothing like the surface where your mother would be watching some cool nature documentaries... The thought of your mother drowns your mind with grief. You stare at your black boots that surround your feet. You don't even notice a worried skeleton trying to get your attention.
"hey y/n, you alright?"
Your attention switches off your shoes to his face. You managed to form a smile.
"Yeah, I'm alright, just thinking."
You try to reassure your friend. His expression doesn't seem to change.
"you sure? you know you don't have to pretend with me..."
The sound of his voice is so... Comforting...
You let out a sigh and smirk.
"I was just...thinking about the surface"
Sans' expression relaxes a little, he goes to speak until he was cut off by the sound of a- very ridiculous- ringtone.
He lets out a small sigh and chats with the caller.
"hey alph, what's up? ...yeah...why do you ask?"
Sans turns to face you with an odd look on his face.
"alph, what are you talking about? ...yeah, okay we'll be there."
He pus down the phone and observes you. You open your mouth to speak until you and Sans are in a new environment.
Is this a hospital, or lab of some sort..?
You gaze around the area until your gaze met a short yellow lizard kind of monster, they wore a white lab coat and glasses. You turn to Sans who hasn't said a word or made a single sound.
"H-hi, I-I'm Alphys, the r-royal scientist.."
The monster is a stuttering mess. You wear a warm smile to boost the scientists confidence.
"I'm y/n! Nice to meet you Alphys!"
A smile seems to have formed on her face. Her expression switches as she peers at Sans
"I-I called you h-here to discuss something r-rather pe-personal..."
The sudden serious atmosphere feels uneasy.
You give a hesitant nod.
"kid, what do you know about souls?"
You jump at Sans' outburst.
"Nothing much, just that they're the culmination of our being..."
The memory of Flowey's encounter sent shivers down your spine.
"exactly, so if something major happened to the souls vessel, signs of soul weakness or scars would appear, which makes seeing a soul a big deal.."
Thoughts rush through your head like a river.
Scars? Would mine have any? What DOES my soul look like? Why are they telling me this?
You were interrupted by familiar stuttering.
"T-That's correct... You s-see, I uhm..I c-created this device, it's m-ment to be able t-to read someone's s-soul..."
Your mind filled with confusion, you turned to Sans hoping to get an explanation. You found him turning away from you.
"alphys used the device on you. the results came back not long ago."
Your eyes widen as they shoot on Alphys.
"Used it on me? How? When!?"
Hints of anger, no. Fear. Was found surrounding your voice. Why? You have nothing to hide, right?
So you keep telling yourself.
"S-Sorry! It was o-only when you left t-the ruins and f-fainted. I only w-wanted to make s-sure.."
A rain of guilt came over you. She only wanted to make sure I was okay..
You give Alphys a comforting smile, "It's fine, don't be sorry, you didn't intend anything."
The monsters eyes sparkled before the light was lost.
"just get to the point, al.."
The seriousness in Sans' voice was... disturbing...
"R-Right! Follow me."
Alphys guided us to a large flat screen TV, larger than anything you've seen on the surface.
"S-So, if you look h-here, it will show the i-information on y-your soul.."
Alphys indicates to the large screen where a shape of a heart is shown, surrounding the heart were figures and numbers.
"Woah, is that my soul?"
You point to the heart in the middle of the screen.
"Y-Yes, but no.. It's not your s-soul exactly.. It just r-represents it.."
Alphys hesitates for a second before turning towards the device.
"T-This is y-your soul. I-I thought y-you should s-see."
A light (f/c) heart appeared on the screen, covered light gold cracks.
The sight shocks you, your hands wrap around your mouth as you let out a gasp.
You turn your head away, finding Sans' eyes pitch-black, staring at the screen.
Why does it look so..broken..
You soon found Sans holding onto you.
"y/n...what..why..how did this..."
Those were really the only words you could piece together.
"I-I'll leave you t-two alone.."
Alphys turned towards the escalators and left you and Sans in the room.
"y/n..please be honest with me..."
A long silence fills the room.
"what happened before and when you fell down.."
You freeze. Not knowing what to say..
You can trust him.. Right?
You always felt like you could.
You open your mouth to speak, but the thought of someone listening fills you with fear.
"Can we perhaps..go somewhere more..private..?"
Sans' face relaxes and a pleasant familiar blue surrounds the both of you.
You found yourself in- an extremely messy room.
You giggle.
"Is this your room?"
You look to Sans who's face is covered with a blue dust.
"y-yeah. but that's not the point right now."
Sans looks back at you more seriously
"Oh right.."
We sit on the bed- no, mattress, leaving a reasonable space between us.
"so.. what happened..?"
