Later in the day, all of us women except for Lori, are gathered by the river doing the washing. I'm sitting in between Carol and Amy; watching Shane and Carl catch frogs while I wash Daryl's and my clothing.

"Can someone explain to me how the women wound up doing all the Hattie McDaniel work?" I hear Jacqui say from behind me, I also want to know why we're cleaning, I'm much better at other things.

"The world ended. Didn't you get the memo?" Amy says turning to look at Jacqui before turning back to her washing.

"Just the way it is." Carol looks over at Ed who is watching us clean from his car, before handing Jacqui a wet clothing item.

"True facts." I sigh and watch as Carl plays, shaking my head. Maybe the men should do this once in a while instead of us. We all continue scrubbing the clothes clean. Andrea sits next to Amy and begins to wet the clothes before handing them off to Amy, she looks over to me.

"So, Alex. What's going on with you and Daryl Dixon?" she asks playfully with a hint of sincerity.

"What do you mean?" I couldn't understand why Andrea was asking, sure we are close, but the world ended and finding friends is hard. Amy scoffs, "It's so obvious that you two are together. That you like him." She lightly bumps me with her shoulder. I blush and try to focus back on the clothes in my hands.

"It's not like that, we're not that close." I can't even imagine it, Daryl liking me! Nonsense. "Oh, come on. He lets you hold his crossbow, nobody else has; your tent is next to his and you're washing his clothes!" Amy says with a know-it-all tone. Pointing out all the things that we do that make it seem like there's something more going on.

"Not to mention the way you two look at each other when you talk." Andrea adds with a smile, looking back at me and catching the slight blush I have. Me and him? Together. I blush at the thought, it's not hard to tell that he and I have an odd bond. But we could never end up together.

"I do miss my Maytag." Carol says changing the subject, which I am grateful for. I no longer want to talk about my relationship with Daryl. "I miss my Benz, my sat nav." Andrea says with a longing tone.

"I miss my bed, my books, and oh do I miss my cat." I had a black cat at home, that a friend was looking after while I was away at my dad's place, his name was Napoleon, and I adored him.

"I miss my coffeemaker with that dual-drip filter and built-in grinder, honey." Jacqui says, wringing out the wet clothing while having a far-off look. I miss coffee just as much, the warmth it brings and the smell of roasted vanilla that always seemed to come from my coffee that I'd make.
