Hi!! I know it has been long, but we're finally ready to get back to updating this book like we used to. Although do not expect updates frequently.

Daryl's POV

We were walking around the forest trying to spot any sign of Sophia, I had been ignoring Andrea for a while, but she clearly didn't like the silence. "You really think we're gonna find Sophia?" she asks as she moves her flashlight over a few bushes. I shine my light at her to see her face.

I shake my head at her, scoffing. "You got that look on your face same as everybody else. What the hell's wrong with you people? We just started looking." I say looking around me. Gosh, I wish Juni were here instead, she'd talk to me about anything other than Sophia.

"Well, do you?" She asks me, I give her a look before I answer her.

"It ain't the mountains of Tibet. It's Georgia. She could be holed up in a farmhouse somewhere. People get lost and they survive. It happens all the time." Maybe that's true but the likely hood of her already being a walker was higher. I am just hoping she ain't one yet.

"She's only twelve." No shit Sherlock, even when I was twelve, I was surviving with Merle.

"Hell, l was younger than her and l got lost. Nine days in the woods eating berries, wiping my ass with poison oak." I tell her, I had once told this story to Alex, and she had laughed at me till there were tears in her eyes. I wonder how she's doing.

"They found you?" Andrea asks me. This is why I prefer the company of Alex she would have asked me a completely different question.

"My old man was off on a bender with some waitress. Merle was doing another stint in juvie. Didn't even know I was gone. l made my way back though. Went straight into the kitchen and made myself a sandwich. No worse for wear. Except my ass itched something awful." I tell her, she snorts at this. I give her a look, playing like I was insulted.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, that is a terrible story." She continues to laugh, which causes me to chuckle too. She can't make me laugh like Alex does though. I stop laughing and return to being serious. "Only difference is Sophia's got people looking for her. l call that an advantage." I say and we continue to walk making sure to keep an eye out for Sophia or signs of her.

Alex's POV

I'm sitting in the kitchen waiting for news on Carl, or anything that they may need for him. I shake my leg, agitated. I keep telling myself that this is not the same situation as Malik, that Carl will live, that he will wake up. I had to believe this. Lori walks out of the room looking upset, Rick follows behind her staggering a little. "Mind keeping an eye on Carl?"

"Of course," I nod and move from my position to the room. I sit where Rick was sitting, I give Hershel a smile, before moving my gaze to Carl, now frowning. "Hey, bud we're worried about you, your dad told me that Shane and the other guy has gone to get the stuff you need to get better." I rub the sweat off his forehead, my voice cracking as I try to hold in the tears. "We haven't found Sophia yet, but we will. Everything is going to be okay. Please be okay." I beg him, leaning over to kiss his head.

I stay with Carl for a while, nodding off to sleep. I jump up once he starts coughing, "Rick!" Both him and Lori come running in, I move so that they can reach him.

Carl is breathing heavy as he looks around and at Hershel, "Where are we?" he asks as Lori rubs his hair, smiling at him clearly relieved. Rick leans on the bed a bit, "Hey, little man. That's Hershel. We're in his house. You had an accident. Alright?" Lori looking from Rick back to Carl, smiling at them both.

Carl still breathes heavily. "It hurts, a lot." He shudders out, in pain. I can't hold back the small tears that slowly fall. I've heard those words before, and last time they hurt me to hear them. It hurts just the same now.

"Oh baby, I know. I know." Lori says softly to him, Rick looking down trying to stop himself from crying. Carl looks at his mom, smiling slightly, "You should have seen it."

"What?" Lori asks still rubbing his hair. "The deer. It was so pretty, Mom. It was so close. I've never been." Carl starts to say, I smile. He can only think about the deer he saw and not the pain he's in, but my smile falls almost instantly as he stops talking and his eyes almost roll back. I know what's about to happen I've seen this with Malik when he got sick. "Carl?" I call out with a shaky voice.

"What's happening?" Lori asks as Carl starts to seize up. Rick moves to try and help nut Hershel stops him. I quickly move next to Hershel, helping him move Carl on his side.

"Don't. It's a seizure. If you hold him down, you could hurt him." Hershel warns Rick and Lori. Once Hershel has moved him and has placed his hand on his back to make sure he doesn't roll on it, I move away, tears rolling down my eyes. "You can't stop it?" Lori asks stressed by what is happening to her son. Glenn walks in the room having heard the commotion.

"He has to just go through it" Hershel says as Carl's seizer appears to get worse, Glenn walks over to me and grabs my arms pulling me to him, holding me. My ears start to ring as flashes of the night my brother dead come back.

One, two, three ... clear! One, two ... come on kid! Clear! ...

Rick grabs onto Lori as she sobs, no one wants to see their child like that. Rick looks over to us and immediately sees the look in my eyes. "Glenn, take her outside. Now!"

Glenn starts to move us; I still can't take my eyes off of the scene in front of me. We get outside the room, Glenn moves away from me, trying to get a look at my face. I start to breathe heavily, and quickly. Maggie comes in, she looks at me and the at Glenn. "Let's take her to a spare room quick." She grabs Glenn's arm and motions for him to grab me. I don't look up; I don't even know that we have moved from where we were.

My hearing finally comes back, and I hear Glenn calling out to me. "Alex, Alex. Hey, look at me." He lifts me head up with his finger, seeing the look in my eye. He lets go and wraps his arms around me. "It's okay, it's okay." He repeats as I sob in his chest. Pulling him closer for comfort I know, I'm not going to feel.
