A few weeks had passed, i was slowly healing from our breakup.
I didnt FEEL the same though.
I never had the desire to eat, to take care of myself.
It was a wednesday night after school, and i checked my twitter.
American Idol was on tonight.
i never failed to watch the show, and i still voted for Daniel.
I smiled to myself.
My phone buzzed with a text.
From: Mackenzie
"Are we gonna watch Idol again tonight?"
To: Mackenzie
"Yasss bitch,"
From: Mackenzie
"Come over,"
i locked my phone and pulled on my shoes to walk to Kenzie's.
I knocked on her door.
The door swung open to reveal a chipper Kenzie.
"Hey!- you look awful," she frowned and placed a hand on her hip.
i looked down.
"Have you eaten?" She asked gently.
i shrugged and changed the subject, "Who did you vote for?"
She bit her lip and said, "Jax,"
i smiled and said, "My second favorite, after Daniel."
We walked up to her room and turned on her tv.
Ryan Seacrest greeted us from the idol stage.
The judges were introduced, blah blah blah.
A commercial break came on.
"Lets go get ice cream," Kenz asked more like a question, almost begging me to eat something.
i sighed and gave in.
Her freezer had a stock of ice cream because Kenzie's mom had a slight obsession.
i scooped out some chocolate into a small blue bowl.
Kenzie scooped cookie dough, and we headed back upstairs.
One by one, the contestants made it through, and i cheered for each person.
Until Daniel and Rayvon were left.
My hands shook.
We both whipped out our phones and voted for Daniel quickly before going back to the show.
Another commercial break came on.
"If he comes home, what will you do?" Kenzie asked me.
i gave her a look, "Im gonna talk to him. Im sick of being sad."
"I want to meet him," she stated before looking back up to the tv.
"The person going through to thw next round is........." Ryan said, and suspension filled the air.
I squeezed Kenzie's hand.
"Rayvon!"
I watched as Daniel hugged Rayvon and walked off the stage.
"Nooo," i whined as American Idol turned off.
Kenzie shut off the television.
"But hey look, hes coming home!" she tried to cheer me up.
i smiled.
i took out my phone and pulled up iMessage.
To: Daniel
"You did great; im so proud of you:)"
A text buzzed back almost instantly.
From: Daniel
"Thanks, im sorry for being so mad when you left."
To: Daniel
"I understand. I wouldve been mad too."
From: Daniel
"Friends again?"
To: Daniel
"Best friend?"
From: Daniel
"Yasss:))"
"Who are you texting?" Kenzie peered over at my phone.
"Daniel!" I said excitedly.
"He forgave me!" I squealed.
"Yay!" she said with me, hugging me.
"He kinda friendzoned me though,"
i stated.
she shrugged.
"I gotta get home, thanks for everything."
i hugged her again and left.
I showered immediately and went to bed, with thoughts of Daniel's "I love you"s.
--------> NEXT DAY
I awoke sleepily to my mom shaking me awake.
"I let you stay home from school because Daniel is almost home. Dad is at work, and im leaving now." she said bluntly before walking out of the room.
I rubbed my eyes and looked at my clock.
The nine-zero-nine changed to a nine-one-zero.
Thunder boomed outside, and the pitter-patter of rain fell on the roof.
i picked up my phone and laid back down.
A notification was on my phone screen.
From: Daniel
"Im coming to see you when i get to the house:) your mom said that you were home."
To: Daniel
"Okay :)"
I got up and brushed my straight hair.
I kept my pajamas on and sat out on my porch to wait for Daniel to be home.
The thunder and lightning lit up the sky, and it looked beautiful. I always loved thunderstorms.
It took about an hour before a familiar car pulled into Daniel's driveway.
Without thinking, i sprinted off my porch and to his driveway.
He climbed out of the car, and his eyes met with mine.
I ran to him, and his arms wrapped around my waist.
i hugged back, my arms around his neck.
It was the best feeling in the world.
"I forgive you," he whispered to me, and i couldnt say anything back in fear of crying.
I just buried my face in his shoulder, feeling comfort.
We just stood there for a few minutes, hugging.
He pulled away from our hug and kept one hand on my waist, one hand held my cheek.
"Im sorry," i squeaked nervously, my face flushing.
"Its okay," he smiled.
"Can i come help you unpack?" I asked him, eager to talk to him.
"Of course," He picked up his bags before i could grab one to help.
We walked inside.
I hugged Keri and Jeff before walking upstairs to Daniel's room.
He made a weird squeak noise and flopped onto his bed.
"I was so homesick," he stated.
I sat next to him on the bed.
"What made you forgive me all of the sudden?" I asked suddenly.
He sat up, "I realized i was being stupid, and i missed you."
He continued with a concerned, "Have you been eating?"
My eyes widened, "How-"
"When i hugged you. Youre too thin."
I looked away, ashamed.
"I- I still eat, just not a lot," i said shamefully.
"Why?" He inquired.
I didnt answer.
"You need to eat," he said gently.
"I had a granola bar today." i said.
He hugged me from the side, and i rested my head on his shoulder.
"Help me unpack," He said and got up.
The rest of the night was just us catching up and laughing, and some sadness for being voted off, an argument, and just enjoying each others company.
