PART 1 - Chapter 1 (THE BEGINNING)

POV - HAILEY

"New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings but every change is important and bears some meaning. What seemed negative or painful in the beginning may turn into something new; in a new beginning, in a new way, in a new direction, in a new opportunity, in a new life, in a new you", said Lucas, my best friend. This was the 78th motivational quote recited by him from his phone in an hour while sitting in passenger seat and well me driving. 

"Ugh, I got it. I am very excited for the first day of university. It would be so much fun", I said showing him a sarcastic smile," now for god's sake let me listen to music and drive peacefully".

We both are on our way to our first day of university. SO FUN! (note the sarcasm). I am 20 years old and Lucas is also born in the same year as me but his birthday is yet to come. We both used to go to University of Old Wood which was where we used to live but this year Lucas' mom, Katherine opened a cafe in Lake Hill and they decided to move here. Lucas suggested for me to also move here so we could go to ULH which is a much better university and also to start a new beginning.

I was reluctant at first but then agreed to come here. Lucas' mom asked me to stay with them but I didn't wanted to impose upon them so I got an apartment near their house on rent. It wasn't cheap but I had a bit of savings and also here I would be working part-time as a tutor which would provide me sufficient income for my rent and living. I had already moved all the furniture and clothes in my apartment.

After an hour and a half of me driving and Lucas saying motivational quotes, we've finally reached the university. I parked my car which I got as a gift from my dad on my 17th birthday. It is not something very expensive but I love it and was my most precious possession.

Hailey's car - 

(I don't have much idea and knowledge about cars. I just searched a bit and thought of going with this car, which is a Nissan Rogue SUV btw.)

We both got out of the car with our bags and went to the office for getting our schedule and locker combinations. My majors are business and finance along with music history and literature. Lucas is studying  business , finance and economics. After getting our schedule, we started walking towards our lockers. 

There were a few people standing in the hallway and they started staring at us. Some girls and guys were gawking at Lucas because well he is very good looking. He was one of the most popular guys in high school as well as in our old university and some were looking at me too. They would be appreciating my outfit choice I guess. To others I might seem as very confident type who does not have any insecurities regarding their looks and everything but it's not true.     I pretend to appear confident around others at all times so I don't seem weak. 

Today I am wearing a black cropped tank top with loose black trousers. Upon the tank top, I am wearing a white button down shirt. Lucas is wearing a hoodie along with baggy jeans.

We both were keeping our stuff in the lockers when we heard a voice saying, "What the fuck are you doing here, you son of a bitch". We moved our heads towards the voice and saw a guy, very good looking I might add. He was standing with a group of guys and started coming towards us. I turned my head towards Lucas and saw a very raging expression on his face. Okay so we hate this very good looking guy, got it! The guy stopped in front of us. He first looked at me for a while and then punched Lucas in the face. I gasped and pushed the guy away. I helped Lucas get up and stopped him from retaliating. 

The boy then scoffed and said while smirking," Oh so you brought a girl to protect you. Well she is really hot. Good work, Lucas". The hallway around us got really crowded and a professor started approaching us. The good looking boy then said with an angry expression," This is not over fucker". He then gave me a wink and left. I stood there with a disgusted expression on my face.

 I turned towards Lucas and asked him the question revolving in my mind since 5 minutes, " Who the fuck is he?"
