CHAPTER 2 (BROTHERS)

POV - HAILEY

"Who the fuck is he?'

Lucas sighed and said, " He's Aaron Scott". 

My eyes widened in shock, "Your brother?"

"Step brother Hailey", Lucas exclaimed with fury.

Aaron Scott, son of Michael Scott who was a famous basketball player and now has become a politician running for the mayor of Lake Hill. He is Lucas' father as well. Katherine and Michael  used to be high school sweethearts. In senior year Katherine got pregnant with Lucas. Michael did not want the child as he wanted to give his full attention to his NBA career and said Katherine to get an abortion but Katherine wanted to have the child. Michael then broke up and left her. He became a really popular NBA player and after a few years, he got married. He never contacted Katherine after the break up or asked about the child. 

I hate that fucker. Katherine is like a second mother to me. I used to help her in the cafe. She is the most strong and independent woman I have ever met in my life. She takes care of everyone around her and loves with her whole heart. She always keeps smiling and pretends to be happy but sometimes I see through it. She really loved Michael and have still not moved on from him. Lucas hates Michael and his family because of the grief they caused his mother.

"Mr Wells and Ms Jones, go to your classes. They are going to start soon", said an old professor standing across us.

We both nodded our heads in agreement and started moving towards our classes. 

When me and Lucas entered the lecture hall, I saw Aaron motherfucking Scott and his friends sitting at the back. Me and Lucas went and sat somewhere in the middle. A beautiful blonde girl was sitting besides Lucas. The seat at my left was empty. After a while, Aaron came and sat at my left. Lucas was going to say something to Aaron but I stopped him and whispered to him, "It's fine. Don't do something which you will regret later. I don't want either of us to be getting in some kind of trouble on the first day." I know Lucas did not agree with me completely but still nodded his head.

"Hey, I am Aaron", said you know who and put his hand in front of me to shake.

"I do not remember asking you", I said in a boring tone without sparing him a glance. 

From my peripheral vision, I saw him taking his hand back and shaking his head with a smirk on his face.

"Okay but I would really like to know your name", said Aaron. I ignored him and did not bother giving him a reply. A professor then walked in and closed the doors of hall. I removed a notebook from my bag and kept it on the desk in front of me for writing any notes. Aaron at that moment took my notebook and whispered to me, "Oh, Hailey Jones, pretty name for a pretty face".

I took the notebook back from him and said, "Shut the fuck up, Aaron. I am saying you this for the first and last time that do not try to talk to me because I am not going to be giving you any time of my day. So do not bother me or Lucas". After that the lecture got started.

During the lecture, I saw Aaron staring at me many times from my peripheral vision and I continued to ignore him. After the lecture me and Lucas immediately got out and went our separate ways for the next class.

There was some time left before the next lecture to start so I was in the hallway leaning against the wall checking my phone. Someone came and stood in front of me. I raised my gaze and met a pair of Aaron's hazel brown eyes. I sighed in frustration and stood straight going to say something but he started speaking first, "I know, I know that you said not to speak to you ever but I just wanted to apologise. It was wrong of me to bother you just because I wanted to irritate Lucas. I would like to be your friend and so I don't want us to start on a wrong foot".

Well this was not what I expected but I can see through his act. "Look Aaron I really appreciate the apology and it's fine. Lucas is my best friend and I know you just want to be my friend to spite Lucas" he tried to interrupt but I beat him to it and continued, "and anyways I don't have any interest in becoming your friend. So let's end the conversation here. Goodbye". 

I left him standing there and went to the lecture hall. The rest of the lectures went fine. The beautiful blonde girl was also in our economics lecture. Lucas and I talked to her for a while and got to know her name 'Emma'. She is the co-captain of the cheerleading team. She also invited us to a party which was on the weekend. Lucas and I both agreed after a bit persuasion. I think Lucas got a crush on Emma. 

After an eventful and tiring day, I finally reached at my apartment took off my shoes and clothes and went to take a shower. I changed into comfortable clothes and did my skincare.

I just hope that my rest of the week goes peacefully without any interaction with Aaron.
