The sound of my alarm beeping rings in my ear.
"JARVIS, shut it up." I mumbled.
"Alright, kill the alarm. I got it." I heard dad say and I frown.
"That's the emergency alert triggered by the power dropping below five percent." I heard JARVIS report and my eyes fly open.
The first thing that hit me us the cold, then the snow. Snow? It doesn't snow in Malibu.
I then notice us about to crash into a car. Dad screams as I cling onto him tighter as we crash through trees. I put up a shield protecting my head from hitting something. Dad lands face first into the snow covered floor and I crash a few feet in front of him. I breathe out heavily.
"It's snowing, right? Where are we, upstate?" Dad asks.
"We're five miles outside of Rose Hills, Tennessee." JARVIS replies and I scowl.
"Why?! Jarvis! Not my idea! What are we doing here? This is thousands of miles away, I gotta get Pepper, I gotta..." Dad says in urgency.
"I prepared a flight plan. This was the location." JARVIS counters.
"Who asked you? Open the suit." Dad says.
"I don't think it's a good idea." I said sitting up.
"I...I think I may be malfunctioning, sir." JARVIS replies. I light up my palm rubbing it on my arm.
"Open eject." Dad repeats. The suit opens and he seats up. "That's brisk!" He notes before laying back down. "Maybe I'll just cozy back up for a bit." Dad says but nothing.
"JARVIS?" I call out, standing up.
"I actually think I need to sleep now, sir." He announced as the suit shut down.
"Jarvis. Jarvis? Don't leave us, buddy." Dad says but nothing.
"What the hell?" I ask as I helped dad up. He looks around sighing.
"We need something to pull the suit. We also need to find someplace to stay for the night." He says as we look around.
This is a shitty day.
🌨️❄️🌨️
Dad and I stand inside the phone booth, a poncho we stole, well he, from a Indian, wrapped around him. I could keep myself warm, all I needed to do was light up my body.
"Stark Secure Server, now transferring to all known receivers." The robotic voice comes in.
"Pepper, it's me. I've got a lot of apologies to make and not a lot of time. So first off, I'm so sorry I put you and Lis in harm's way. That was selfish and stupid and it won't happen again. Also, it's Christmas time, the rabbit's too big. Done. Sorry. And I'm sorry in advance because...we can't come home yet. We need to find this guy. You gotta stay safe. That's all I know. I just stole a poncho from a wooden Indian. Lis keeps laughing at me about it." He says turning to me with a glare and I burst out laughing again.
"I promise to look after her and we would be here soon. Stay safe. We love you." He says as he cuts the call.
We drag the heavy suit to an abandoned looking farmhouse. Dad places the suit on a couch and seats next to it. I glare at him before seating on a stool.
"Let's get you comfy." He says to the suit as he adjusts it hand, placing it on the arm rest. "You happy now?" He asks adjusting the head of the suit to face me.Dad and I exchange seats as he tries to fix the micro-repeater implants in his arm.
"Freeze! Don't move." A voice comes from the door and dad pauses. I peep behind him to find an adorable boy pointing a potato gun at dad.
