Capítulo VI- Romper un corazón
Megumi rushed behind Atsuki down the hall. He purposely slowed his pace down in case the curse followed behind and he'd be the first one it'd attack. It was obvious, he was a faster runner than her and he'd proven that multiple times. Not to mention, the small limp she had from the burning scratch marks slowed her down. The end of the pathway ended in a drop and Atsuki glanced back at him, "You're going to catch us, right?"
"We've been in the same class for two months and you still don't have enough trust in me." He matched her pace and said, "I won't let you fall."
Atsuki's heart thumped against her chest, giving a deep sigh. She leaped her foot off the ground and she fell freely down the 70-foot drop. Gravity hauled her down and pushed against her body. A funny feeling fuzzed in her stomach and she almost let out a shriek from the feeling.
Megumi created a bird shadow puppet, summoning his shinigami, "Nue." He reached out to grab Atsuki and pulled her in. She wrapped her arms around his neck and legs around his waist. He couldn't hold on to her, he stretched his arms to the side to let Nue clasp his talons around him.
She held on tight, glancing up at the bird. Its long wings flapped, slowing down their fall. Megumi's feet gently touched the floor and Nue released his hold on him. He put a hand on Atsuki's back to help her off of him. She shook her head to let her bangs fall on her face, her earrings rattled as she did. She adjusted her skirt, thankful for the leggings she wore underneath.
Megumi clasped his hands as she fixed herself, "Devine Dogs!" The black divine dog was summoned next to him and Atsuki. "Find, Kugisaki!"
Kurai pointed his nose in front of them and lightly jogged off. Atsuki and Megumi trailed behind the dog and he picked up his pace. He led them through the vacant halls. It was one straight pathway with a couple of turns. However, that didn't stop them from tracing Nobara's scent.
The dog stopped in front of a set of doors and his paw scratched them. Megumi opened the doors and Nobara was hung upside down in the hand of a curse, lifted toward its mouth. Kurai dissolved as he summoned a frog shikigami. His tongue shot out and wrapped around Nobara's figure. Atsuki threw a card, exploding when it hit the curse. It loosened its grip on her and the toad retracted his tongue, engulfing Nobara.
Megumi said, "We're escaping, Kugisaki!"
She mumbled, "I hate frogs, you know."
"Yeah, well, sorry!"
Atsuki threw another card at the curse and the pink smoke blinded its vision. She and Megumi let the frog leap out of the room first with Nobara in its mouth. He created his divine dog once again to lead the way outside.
They weaved their way around the halls while Kurai sniffed the exit. It felt like it would take forever to Atsuki. The detention center wasn't as big as the incomplete domain. It was odd how you step in to expect grey walls, cell bars, and metal tables everywhere. In fact, it was endless hallways with rusted pipes running along the sides and ceiling, leading to random rooms of the detention center.
