Capítulo XII- Hacer un esfuerzo

Atsuki ran down the hallways holding a paper in her hand. She ignored that it was eight in the morning and that her loud steps probably woke up people living in the dorms. She had just received her graded paper from Ijichi. Atsuki's hair was in messy curls and her eyes were still slightly swollen from waking up an hour ago. She still had her pajamas she slept in as she knocked on Megumi's door. She shifted her weight at the tip of her toes as she rocked back and forth.

Megumi had just woken up too. His bedhead was still a mess, not much different from how he wore it. His t-shirt and pajama pants clung to his body too, and he yawned upon setting eyes on her. His eyes squinted from the sudden light coming in from outside and he shivered from the cool summer morning. Atsuki pushed passed him and made herself at home, sitting on his bed. She still lacked in manners and she was too excited to wait.

"Oh, yeah. Come in," he sarcastically said.

"Guess what!" She grinned, wiggling the paper.

It was too early for Megumi to find the energy for anything. Atsuki wasn't much of a morning person either but if she felt the need to talk she will. He closed his door to keep his room warm. "What?" he said, giving in.

"I GOT A 100%!" She handed the paper to Megumi next to her.

He looked over the number at the top corner of her page. Atsuki couldn't make it any more obvious that she'd never received a good grade. Well, what she considers a good grade. Atsuki considers 60% a good grade. Sometimes she would get lucky and it would be 65%. As long as it was a passing grade she considers it a good grade.

Atsuki rested her arm on his shoulder, looking at the perfect score. "Can you believe it! All because of you! Ijichi had to ask if I was cheating. I told him you helped me."

Megumi gave a small laugh through his nose, smiling as Atsuki mentioned Ijichi's accusation. He turned to her, "How well do you do in school?"

She shrugged, "I give about an average effort. If I fail, I fail. As long as I get a 60 or higher. And Ijichi will probably stop by later and ask if you helped me. Kind of rude of him not to believe me but whatever I don't blame him."

"Is this your first time getting a 100?"

"Yeah, but in my defense," she raised her hands up, "I've been in school for less than six months. But I got a 100!"

Megumi had received more than enough 100% on his schoolwork. It was nothing he would be excited to see anymore, it was something he expected. He didn't share the same excitement as she did, maybe over ten years ago, but not now. And not to mention, he had woken up thirty minutes ago. His curtains weren't open yet. Only so much sunline peeked through.
