Tia looked at the time on her phone
"Shit"
She muttered to herself as she realised she was twenty four minutes late to class.
It was the first day back at school, the first day of year 11 and her first class was Agriculture. Tia was the sort of girl who didn't hand in her subject selection form out of purely forgetting to, hence getting placed into the most random of classes.
As soon as she rushed into the class, Tia spat out, "Sorry I'm late!" The whole class stopped and turned to her, some looking annoyed, others just plain confused. The only person who wasn't one of the two was Tobias Cameron. Tobias Cameron was the sort of boy many deemed as the 'class clown', he had a friendly exterior. He was a tall, brunette guy with the most chest-nutty eyes many had ever laid eyes on. Everyone was friends with him, and he was friends with everyone. Well, everyone except for Tia.
"Oh no, everyone! Look who it is..." He said with a sly smirk as Tia was looking for a free seat, there was one in the front right side of the room that she had her eyes on. "Feels bad for the seat, hopefully this one doesn't try to run away from her!"
The whole class cracked up laughing, though Tia didn't find Tobias' humour funny in the slightest! His little tease about an incident that happened three years ago! When Tia was in year 8, she went to sit in a seat but Tobias pulled it out from under her and everyone watched as she fell to floor, he still hadn't let it go...
She chose to ignore his malicious comment and sat down in the seat and watched as the teacher explained concepts at the front of the room. To Tia, the lesson felt like it was going on for decades but thankfully to her relief, the bell went sounding for recess.
Tia made her way back up to the main area of the school where she saw Hannah. Hannah Holland, one of the more academic students at Kamila College, also one of her best friends. Her intentions were pure with everyone, and she tried to do right by everyone in our grade.
"Tia!" She exaggerated as she came running over to me, "I haven't seen you since last year". Hannah said pulling Tia into a hug, "How was your first class?" Hannah asked Tia, excited to see what she had to say.
"Tobias made a hurtful comment as soon as I walked into class" Tia said with a sigh, "Heyyy, don't let him get you down! We have the whole school year to enjoy"
Tia loved Holly but at times she did deem her as too optimistic. The two girls were taking the time at their break to just catch up when a guy walked over. James Knight. Hannah's close friend and one of Tia's many not-so-friendly acquaintances.
"Hey Hannah!" James said, flashing Hannah a grin. James was known as one of the school's 'tough guys' no one wanted to get on his, or his friend's bad side. Tia was fairly sure that if it wasn't for Hannah's bond with James, the two of them would have had some form of confrontation by now.
"Hi James! How are you going?" Hannah asked James, looking over to him and away from Tia's direction. "I'm pretty alright, look, Tobias is hosting a welcome back party and we were both wondering if you would like to come?" Hannah looked up at James as a smile formed across her face. "You know I'm always down for a bit of fun, James."
Hannah looked back at Tia and noticed her feeling a bit left out, "Only if Tia can come, though."
James thought for a moment, Hannah flashing him a prepossessing grin, "Yeah righto, I'm looking forward to seeing you there" James said to Hannah as he walked off.
Hannah looked back at Tia, "How exciting right? Our first party as year 11's!"
"More like YOUR first party, count me out!" Tia said.
"What, why? James was happy for you to come!"
"Hannah, you know I love you but oh my goodness... he was happy for YOU to come, not me! He only said yes to me so that you would go. He didn't even look at me!" Tia scoffed.
Hannah looked slightly disappointed at her friend, Tia wasn't the outgoing type and Hannah wished she could have more experiences with her. "C'mon it'll be fun, and if you don't want to stay we can just leave."
Tia could tell it would mean a lot to Hannah if she was to attend Tobias' party, as much as she didn't like him she wanted to make her friend happy so she reluctantly agreed to attend.
Not long after, the bell went, and the girl's went their separate ways to their individual classrooms...
