The first couple of days were weird. Sure, it was like it was when I slept on the couch, but now I really got used to it. The sound of something constantly running, like the pinball machine, or hearing cars run over you above. The sound of water constantly flooding the sewers and dripping down from pipers. I didn't mind it, although peace and quiet wasn't ever attainable anymore.
Now I found myself with more time to think, and to process. I had spent most my time in the lounge, doing whatever I could with whoever. I would listen to Donnie ramble for hours on something, play video games with Mikey, hangout with Leo, or try and arm wrestle Raph. I might cook something for them all as well, like I was now.
"Dinners ready!" I yelled out, loud enough for it to echo in the sewer's depths.
Suddenly, a mass piled into the kitchen as if on cue, and I smiled proudly at my work.
"What did ya' make?" Raph asked, looking over my shoulder as I stirred the pot.
"Chili Mac' it's an old favorite," I said.
"Smells good," Donnie added while I handed out bowls.
"You all headed out after this? Patrol?"
Patrol was the thing they did every night after dinner so far; they'd watch over the city and then come back. I wondered if I'd ever come, but I felt weird asking. They all had training except for Casey, and I was sure I could beat him in a fist fight.
"Nope, game night tonight!" April exclaimed, getting herself some.
"Oh? What do you have in mind?" I asked.
Donni and Raph shot each other a look, then to Mikey.
"What does that mean?" I mumbled to myself while getting a bowl of Chili. "Where's Leo? Is Case coming?" I asked.
"Here," Casey yelled from the turnstiles.
"Right here," Leo also called, walking in as Jones followed. I went to sit down, and he pulled out my chair for me with one hand, gesturing me to sit. My face bloomed with a hot sensation as I crossed my legs and took my place. He then got himself a bowl and sat right next to me, Casey on the opposite side.
"So, game night?" I asked.
"Oh, yea, about that," Donnie started. "Tonight, we're playing sewer seeker."
Everyone began cheering, aside from me.
"Is that a board game or something?" I asked, after clearing my throat. Everyone looked at me beside themselves.
"It's in the name, self-explanatory," Mikey wide eyed.
"Sewer seeker?" I said aloud, trying to figure it out for myself. Leo laughed, while eating.
Soon they were all laughing as I kept thinking, saying it over and over again so it would click. Perhaps we were supposed to find something or have a scavenger hunt in the sewers.
"What the heck is a sewer seeker," I blurted out, leaning back in my chair. "Please, someone explain," I pleaded, taking another bite.
"You're pretty cute when you're flustered," Casey laughed to himself, making me choke on my food.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Leo's fist ball up in the table, I couldn't see his face, but he was looking at Casey. I didn't respond.
"It's hide and seek in the sewers; we randomly select the seekers then they get to pick who they want to find," Donnie filled in. "I already drew them this morning."
"Who are they?" Leo asked curiously.
"Hmph, I better get seeker," Raph said, leaning back in his seat and cracking his knuckles.
