The day started out pretty rough. For starters, everyone was sore or injured from last night's fight. I didn't get much sleep either, waking up to my period and a bad dream. It was about my parents; the house was on fire. I don't usually remember my dreams that vividly, parts of it were almost blocked out, but I didn't want to remember this one anyway. The pain medication Donnie gave me wore out, so my cramps hurt more than usual. It was messy, and annoying, and it showed.
I woke up late, tired from losing a few hours of sleep in the middle of the night. I was quick to get out of bed and try to whip up breakfast, but I felt bad, not having the time I usually do to make tea for Leo. Still, I put the water on the stove, and started to crack a bunch of eggs into the bowl I had set out. I mixed together a dozen eggs before adding seasoning, turning on the stove, buttering it, and then pouring them in. Scrambled eggs were easy, and delicious.
My exhaustion wavered, trying to stir them under the heat while I bent over in pain. The pills I wanted to take were in Don's lab, but he fell asleep there late last night with April, so it'd be wrong to go in. Morally, it'd be wrong, I knew Raph or Mikey wouldn't care less.
I continued to stir them as the eggs started to form in the pan, my cramps getting worse. I got anxious, holding onto the counter and trying to take deep breaths. It was amusing how bad it was. I could hear the water boiling on the other stove, rushing to take it off the heat, a pair of hands stopped me. One running around my waist to pull me in, the other taking the pot of water off the stove for me. His head burying into my neck, a kiss being pressed to it.
"Deep breaths," Leo said, his morning voice making my face red.
"It's my time of the month, I'm sorry I woke up late," I apologized, wincing.
His other hand now held my waist, as we shifted back to the eggs so I could work on them while being with him.
"It's okay, April said this always hurts like hell."
"It does," I laughed a little to myself.
Leo and I swayed for a bit, one hand holding his and another holding the spatula. He was like a heating pad, some ninja technique he was probably doing, I wouldn't be surprised.
"You always know how to calm me down," I admitted.
"It's my specialty," he said, laughing a little. "Why didn't you get much sleep last night?"
"Bad dream, and this, that's normal though, I'll be good to go for today with a little caffeine," I answered.
"No, you're not training at all."
"Why not?"
"You need to rest, it's only going to hurt more if you work yourself," Leo said.
"But-"
"No but's," he interjected. "You're on bedrest."
"Is that an order?"
"It will be if you try to do something," he whispered before kissing me on the cheek, a hint of seriousness in his tone.
I knew I should be careful, my emotions were going haywire because of him, even though he didn't know. Leo let go of me and we both started to work, the turtle making the tea, and myself starting on plating all these eggs. I then set out condiments for them, before getting the fruit I bought the other day from the fridge.
"Let me cut those," Leo offered, as I got out a knife.
"My period doesn't prevent me from being a good swordsman," I joked, getting out the cutting board.
"Mhm, but I cut quicker," he quipped, taking the knife from me without moment's notice and twirling it in his hand.
"Trying to impress me now, are we?"
