Two Freaks in Love

Chapter 12

I shoot Mike a glare, while Eddie and Nancy laugh. "Wait a minute... he walked in on you two... having sex?" There are brief pauses as Steve points from Mike, to me and Eddie. I blush and look at the floor. "Just making out." Eddie corrects him.

   Steve looks at Mike, who has a disgusted look on his face. "I guess now you know to knock before opening a closed door." Steve bursts out laughing. Nancy joins in the laughter and before I know it, we're all laughing.

   "Steve, baby, is there anything I can eat? I'm starving." Sabrina tugs on Steve's shirt. "We made grilled cheese if you want some Brina." Nancy answers her question. "Oo! My favourite!" She cheers as she walks to the table to grab a plate.

   The front door opens and closes, followed by my mother's voice. "Kids! We're home!" They walk into the kitchen, pause for a moment, and scan the room. We all look at them and smile. "Wow, I didn't know we had 9 children, honey." My father says over my mother's shoulder, a wide smile across his face.

   We all laugh, Steve and I walk over to give them a hug. "How was your party?" I ask after releasing from the hug. "It was fun! We won the couples costume contest!" My mother answers. "We dressed as Johnny Cash and June Carter." My father adds. They love country music, Johnny Cash being their favourite.

   "And how was your guys' party?" My mother asks. "What party?" Steve asks, acting innocent. "You don't expect me to believe that you didn't throw a party, do you?" She asks with a somewhat sarcastic tone, gesturing to the full rooms. I giggle and say, "Eddie and I were dressed as Danny and Sandy. Nancy dressed as Rizzo. The boys hid in the basement all night. Steve and Sabrina decided to take a swim. We had quite the turnout, so I'd say it was actually a lot of fun."

   "Sabrina?" My mother looks at the only face she doesn't recognize. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Melanie and this is my husband Rodger." She makes her way to Sabrina and holds out her hand. Sabrina takes it and says, "Sabrina Philips. It's great to meet you!" She smiles at my mother, who smiles back.

   "What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." She says before walking away and rejoining my father in the doorway. Steve rubs Sabrina's shoulder as she blushes. "We're going to put our stuff away and maybe take a nap." My father says as he grabs their bags and starts walking up the stairs. "We will get out of your hair. Love you guys!" I shout up to them.

   Eddie takes my hand and we all head outside. "I'm gonna go hang out with Jonathan. You coming with me Will?" Nancy asks. "I think we're going to meet the girls at the arcade and hang out there for a while." Will responds, looking at the other 3 boys who nod in agreement. "Okay! I'll tell your mom for you. Have fun boys!" She smiles, then climbs into her car and drives off.

   " Brina and I are gonna go to a movie." Steve says, opening the car door for her. They drive off after giving us a wave. "You boys need a ride?" Eddie asks nodding to his van. "That'd be great! Thanks!" Dustin answers for the group. He climbs into the van, followed by the other 3.

   "Alright then, let's go." I kiss Eddie's cheek. He opens my door for me and then climbs in behind the wheel. Eddie has the music blaring and we're all singing along. When we pull up to the arcade, Max and El are there waiting. They would've come to the party, but Hopper wouldn't let El out so Max stayed with her.

   "What would you like to do now?" I ask after turning down the music. Eddie places his hand on my thigh and smiles. "We're going to my trailer. I've got a surprise for you." He says, tapping his fingers on my leg. "A surprise? For me?" I ask playfully.

   Eddie opens the door to his trailer and leads me inside, shutting the door behind us. "Welcome to my humble abode. I'm sorry about the mess." He says while picking up some food wrappers. I giggle a little and ask, "Where's your uncle?" He looks over at me and says, "He's at work today." A smile creeps across his face and I smile back at him.

   "So what's my surprise?" I ask eagerly. He motions for me to take a seat on the couch and runs into his room. "Close your eyes, Princess!" He shouts from his bedroom. I close my eyes, "Okay! They're closed!" I shout back.

   I hear a guitar strumming followed by Eddie's voice. "Watching every motion in my foolish lover's game. On this endless ocean, finally lovers know no shame." I open my eyes, meeting his immediately. "Turning and returning to some secret place inside."

   He takes a few more steps toward me. I stand to meet him and sing the next line, "Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say..." He joins back in, "Take my breath away. Take my breath away."

   He stops playing and sets his guitar down against the counter. He gently grabs my face and places his soft lips on mine. I pull back slightly and say, "My favourite song. Thank you." He smiles and kisses me again.

   Eddie pulls away for a brief moment, just to turn on the radio. We slow-dance to the music, moving all around the living room. The world feels so full when I'm with him, but in this moment, it's just the two of us.

   We sway to the music, slowly moving into his room. Once we cross through his doorway he presses his lips to mine again and leans me against the wall next to it. He tightens his grip around my waist, pressing his body against mine. I bring my hands up and place them on the back of his head.

   Eddie picks me up and I wrap my legs around him. He carries me from the doorway to the bed, laying me down once we reach it. He puts his hands on either side of my head, still pressing against me.

   I break away from the kiss, hands still on the back of his head, and smile at him. "Listen." He lifts his head to hear what I hear.

Watching every motion in my foolish lover's game

   He smiles and brings his lips to my neck. I close my eyes, fully giving in to this moment. He lifts his head, causing me to open my eyes. He stares into them questioningly. I slide my hand to his cheek and nod my head.

   "I love you." I say softly. He returns his lips to my neck and removes my shirt. We've both been waiting for this moment, and here it is. It couldn't be more perfect.
