"Can you believe we have been dating for 3 years?" I ask Eddie as we enjoy our dinner. "I can't. It feels like just yesterday that I found you sitting at my table at lunch." He reaches across the table and takes my hand in his. "Happy anniversary Princess."
I smile at him and lean over the table to kiss him. "Happy anniversary." The waiter brings us the bill and Eddie refuses to let me pay, which is typical of him. I manage to find other ways to pay him back though.
When we get home Eddie picks me up and carries me inside. He sets me down on the couch and drops down onto his knee. "Eddie? What's happening right now?" Tears start filling my eyes and my hands begin to shake.
"Delaina Harrington, you have been the light of my life since I first laid my eyes on you. You didn't know I was out there, but I always have been... just waiting for you. These last 3 years with you have felt like a lifetime, a perfect one at that. I want our time together to be forever. Will you marry me?"
Tears flow down my cheeks like a river. I try to speak but no words leave my mouth so I just nod. He jumps up into my arms and kisses me so intensely that I fall backwards until I'm leaning against the back of the couch. He replaces my promise ring with a beautiful silver engagement ring, his hands shaking as he does.
"I love you so much, Princess." Eddie whispers as he places his hands on my cheeks and rests his forehead against mine. "I love you more." I whisper back, putting my hands on the back of his neck. I pull him against my lips and like always, we move in perfect harmony.
"Good morning my beautiful fiance." Eddie kisses my forehead. I'm laying on his chest, our arms wrapped around each other. "Mmm, music to my ears." I hum against his skin. It must've tickled when I did because he twitches a little.
"What? Oh my gosh! Congratulations!" Nancy cheers and pulls me and Eddie into a hug. "You picked a good one D. I'm glad I get to call him my brother soon." Steve pulls us into a hug the second Nancy lets us go. Eddie and I smile at each other.
I pull Nancy into my parents' kitchen. "Nance... will you be my maid of honour?" She practically jumps into my arms. "Yes! 100 times, yes!" We're laughing as we walk back into the living room. Steve and Eddie are on the couch and I give Eddie a questioning look.
"Steve agreed to be my best man." He says happily. I clap and hug Steve excitedly. My parents walk in the front door to us all chatting in the living room. "What did we do to deserve this?" My mother asks as she hugs all of us.
Steve moved out with Sabrina, not too long after Eddie and I moved out actually. Nancy moved out of Hawkins with Jonathan for school. Steve, Eddie, and I still visit all the time, we just usually call first.
"We have a surprise..." I look at Eddie, then look back at my parents. I smile and hold my hand up to show off my ring. My mother squeals and drops everything to run to me. She pulls me into a tight hug. My father hugs Eddie and then wraps his arms around me and my mother.
"We're so proud of you. You've grown up so much." He says, holding back tears. "I love you, mum. I love you, dad." I say, unable to hold back my own tears. Eddie joins the hug, followed by Steve and then Nancy.
"We would like to have everyone over to our house tonight for a celebration. Does 7 work?" Eddie asks after we all pull out of the hug. "We will all be there." Steve states, answering for everyone. "Good. We will see you all then. We're going to go and tell Wayne the good news now." I say wiggling my fingers with my hand beside my face.
Wayne hugs me and then hugs Eddie. "Congrats you two." He says through joyful tears. "I'm so proud of you both." He pats Eddie's shoulder and looks over at me with a smile. We both smile back at him. "Our place tonight. 7, will you be there?" I ask him as I take Eddie's hand. "I'll be there." He responds.
"We just want to say thank you to all of you. You've been our biggest supporters through everything." I raise my glass and look around the room. Everyone cheers and raises their glasses back.
My parents are chatting with Wayne. The 4 young boys, who aren't so young anymore, are on the couch. Nancy and Jonathan are talking with Steve and Sabrina. Jeff and Gareth couldn't make it, but we did call them to tell them about the engagement and they promised to make it to the wedding.
"Today's the day. You ready sweetheart?" My mother pins my veil into my hair and Nancy ties my dress. "I don't think I've ever been more ready for something in my life." I say excitedly as I touch up my mascara. My mother's eyes start to fill with tears.
"Mum! You're gonna make me cry if you keep crying. It'll ruin my makeup." I say as I carefully dab the tears away. There are a few soft knocks on the door before it opens, revealing my father. "Sweetie, it's time." He says softly. Nancy nods and heads out of the room. My mother hugs me and then follows Nancy.
My arm is folded in my fathers as he walks me down the aisle. Eddie's eyes fill with tears when he sees me. "I love you, Delaina. You will always be my little girl." My father hugs me and kisses my forehead. "I love you too, dad."
"Do you, Delaina Harrington, take thee, Edward Munson, to be your lawfully wedded husband?" I stare at Eddie with love in my eyes. "I do." Eddie squeezes my hand 3 times and slides the ring onto my finger.
"And do you, Edward Munson, take thee, Delaina Harrington, to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Without any hesitation in his voice, Eddie blurts out the words, "I do!" I slide the ring on his finger and smile at him.
"You may now kiss the -" Eddie doesn't wait for the end of the sentence. He wraps his arms around me, dips me, and places a passionate kiss on my lips. Everyone in the building erupts, cheers echoing throughout the place.
Eddie and I wave as we walk out of the building. We decided to have our reception in the theatre of the high school, only a few of us really know why. Nancy catches the bouquet when I throw it and she cheers. The night feels like a party that lasts forever. I am now Mrs. Delaina Munson.
Eddie and I have now been married for 8 love-filled years. I honestly couldn't be more blessed. Eddie owns his very own guitar shop, which I help him manage. He still finds ways to make me fall in love with him all over again. I've never been happier than I am with him.
"Good morning m'lady!" Eddie hugs me from behind and kisses my cheek. "Good morning my love. Would you like some bacon with your pancakes?" I ask, holding up the pan for him to see.
"You know me so well." He gives me a quick kiss on my lips. He grabs the pancakes and takes them over to the table. He then moves all the toppings over with the pancakes. I give him a smile while cooking the bacon.
Once everything is done cooking I take the bacon over and set it next to the pancakes. I move over to the fridge and grab a jug of juice and take it over as well. Eddie and I look proudly at the table full of food. I look at him, his hands on his hips wondering what's missing.
"Kids! Time for breakfast!" I shout up the stairs.
