(This takes place under the effect that Vic wasn't taken by the Dealers. This is gonna be weird for me, but I'm gonna try)

Life wasn't perfect. It was a hard, rough road with potholes, speed bumps and random turns you never saw until they were right in front of you.

Vic had learned this from an early age. With both her best friend and her mom dying in the span of a year, it had taken quite a bit of her childhood. She simply grew up too fast.

But the most unexpected turn came slowly, and she didn't even realize she was on a new road till she couldn't see the street behind her anymore.

It started when she was in eighth grade, her brother in ten. He started spending more time with Scott, which was fine, she understood. He was in high school, he didn't always have to hang out with his little sister. But what did concern her was the dead bodies that started appearing everywhere. The reports on her dad's desk said animal attack. A mountain lion.

But she knew, she just knew that there was something different about this.

Then, there was the night her brother got trapped in the school, and they found out that it was Derek Hale that was killing those people. Vic didn't believe it. It just didn't make sense. Derek was going after the people involved in the Hale fire that had killed his family years ago. If he was going after those responsible, why kill his sister first?

Then, something happened the night of the spring formal. Scott's ex-girlfriend's aunt, the one apparently responsible for the fire, died. After that, it was like everything slowed down.

For a day.

Then it was like someone hit fast forward.

Stiles stopped spending time with her altogether, making her feel virtually abandoned. He started acting different too. Jumpy, more ADHD than usual, he disappeared during his lacrosse game, he even stole a prison transport and held a kid hostage for a few hours.

Vic concluded that if he wasn't gonna talk to her, she wasn't gonna talk to him either. It was hard, though. With her dad working so long at the station, Stiles had practically raised her. She didn't want to be alone. She just wanted her brother back.

Even though she was mad at him, she was terrified the night at the police station. Scott had gotten shot, her dad got knocked out. She had gotten shot and passed out from the blood loss soon after. Matt Daehler now had a spot in her nightmares, that gun echoing in her head on repeat.

Vic was healed enough to go to the big game. And she was glad she did. She was able to to see her brother shoot goal after goal, even win the game. But she the smile faded when the lights went out. She gripped her dad's jacket until the field was lit once more. But that wasn't enough. She couldn't find Stiles. She couldn't see him, his buzzcut, that number twenty-four jersey anywhere. Vic nearly cried with relief when he showed up at home.

The summer seemed... normal for the most part. It was a bit slow but she and Stiles spent more time together, Scott even joined them but she didn't mind. She was glad to not be alone anymore.

Then, the fall came around once more. It seemed to start the day that crows crashed into Stiles's classroom. A few days later, Vic's childhood friend disappeared. Heather was found murdered. Vic could hardly believe it. She spent the first few days in shock. It definitely didn't help when she found a body on the trail. She didn't even know how she found him, just that he was there, by the path, strapped to a tree, blood staining the bark.

Vic thought maybe going to the track meet, getting out of town for a few days, might help her clear her mind. Nope. First, somehow Scott had gotten injured and almost died on the buss ride up. Second, they stayed in a crappy motel and she saw a big explosion from her room. It didn't help her nerves when she saw Scott and Stiles nearby.
