I shuffle the piece of parchment paper between my fingertips. My jaw is locked, and my hands tremble lightly. There is no turning back now, I am already here. I wanted this. I wanted to come.

Exhilaration like I have never felt before pulses through my veins.

The floorboards creak beneath me while I observe in silence and take small steps around my room. A light rain hits sheepishly on the windowpane and the fireplace crackles, creating the perfect warmth. The room is so beautiful; old-fashioned and yet, fresh. From my arrival in Idania to the walk through the castle halls to exploring the room I will stay in during my visit.

The letter stays in my hand long before I open it. Taking deep breaths, I finally let my fingers touch the red-orange hardened wax, sealing the envelope shut. Then, carefully, I slide my nail underneath it, breaking it open. Gently, I toss the seal and envelope on the neatly laid bed next to me and unfold the small, handwritten note within:

Another is here to accompany you during your stay in Idania. At tonight's ball, you will meet your other next to the platter of fish.

A letter has also been sent to your partner.

Enjoy your stay.

This I already am aware of. One girl and one boy, both of 17 years, can apply for this journey. I am incredibly lucky to have been chosen.

The only thing is, I do not have any idea of who the other is. At least I was given one hint before I left: we are already in each other's lives.
