I have a deep sleep that night, no dreams or nightmares. Nothing. Bird calls enter my consciousness and I immediately sit up from the floor.

"Morning," Emmett says from over at the desk, flipping through a book. I stare at him as my eyes adjust, while the memories from last night flood back in. Outside, to my surprise, is drizzling with rain. It has not rained since the day I arrived. I look back up at him, across the bed, and he looks up at me.

"Yes?"

"Are you-" I start, having to clear my throat, "are you still mad?"

He laughs. "No, I am not. And I was never mad at you."

I look around and notice that his bed is made. He walked around me while I was asleep to make it. He smiles at me, and I smile back, locking eyes for quite a while. Did it happen?

"Do you remember-?"

"I do."

Then I force my stare away from him and look back down, brushing my hair away from my face. I get up, grabbing my crumpled-up dress from the floor. Probably should not have left it there. I have no idea what to say, so I just sit back down and hold my dress for a while.

"Is that my book?" I say, recognising the cover. Emmett shuts it instantly and puts it back on the desk.

"...No."

Usually, this would make me feel violated, but right now I am feeling...good. Surprising myself, I laugh, balancing back on my arms.

"Do you know what I have been trying to do?"

He grins back. "No, but I like your drawings. Tell me."

I playfully roll my eyes. "I just had a thought that maybe if we were to look at the objects that the phrase has been written on, there may be a pattern to help us figure out what will happen to us."

"Smart, I did not think of it like that before! And it makes sense. All the places it has been written on should somehow connect and give us more information, for the end of next week." The end of next week sounds very close.

"Thanks. You seem shocked."

"Not as shocked as you were when I held your hand last night."

My face heats up again as I watch him get up off the chair and make his way over to the door. "Well...technically I did first."

"Technically you did think that I was asleep," Emmett opens the door, "it is around 11, you should get dressed and eat, so we can head back to the village."

"It is that late?"

"Yes," he says, "but we did not mind waiting for you. I do like this place." Then he turns to leave. "Oh, and another thing, Maree had some spare clothes she wanted to know if you liked or wanted to keep, they are in the bathroom."

Emmett gives me a wide smile before closing the door behind him.

Clothes?

Thinking about what Maree usually wears. I do not think even in my size, that I would wear that style of clothes. But for her sake I put my dress over me, gently tightening the tie loosely around my waist and combing through my hair with my fingers. I head to the bathroom next, past the door just opposite.

I smile as I spot a new and wrapped-up toothbrush labelled, Violet. Strange to see my false name written out for me, but I brush my teeth with it, then wash my face, watching myself in the mirror in front of me.
