Jason-
I looked at Cara while she made a show of looking around the suite, although I knew she was only stalling. I smiled at her actions when she ran out of items to focus on and was forced to look back at me.
I placed my hands in my pockets and stared at her. She made eye contact, then smiled and looked away. I knew she liked it when I took this stance, and I wanted to make her comfortable.
"How are you feeling?" I asked her, breaking the silence.
Her eyes snapped back to me, and my heart didn't fail to skip that beat it always did when her round eyes met mine.
She smiled and took in a breath while lifting her shoulders, "Happy, but also a little overwhelmed."
I liked that she was being honest.
"Yes, I figured that today might've caught you off guard, but you handled yourself well during the vows." I expressed, although a last question lingered on my tongue... Did you mean all you said during your vows?
I watched her smile and shrug again as she avoided my eyes and blushed, "Yeah well, I may have already practiced those same words a few times before in my mind."
"Did you now?" I wondered, truly intrigued.
"I um, one time Cindy and I were goofing around, and she actually helped me decide on what I would say if you and I ever ended at the altar." She admitted.
"Is that so?" I asked then I smirked.
"And now I feel silly," She said and hid her face, "stop looking at me."
I shook my head but couldn't stop smiling.
"Have a seat." I instructed her, just to change the subject.
I noticed she tensed again, and I didn't want to cause her any alarm, so I clarified, "I know you have a lot of questions, so let me explain myself."
She looked at me and sized me from head to toe, then she nodded, and she turned and headed for the bed. My eyes greedily admired the lining of her spine, her backside and the sway of her hips in the gown which Miriam designed for her since two months ago, and I couldn't help but mentally fist bump the air. Cara was truly mine once and for all.
She sat on the bed, then she looked at me with those gorgeous round eyes. Those same eyes who seduced me over and over again and made me forget how to properly breathe and function.
When she was settled, she unclipped the veil from the back of her hair, and I grabbed a nearby chair and pulled close to her, until she and I were knee to knee and face to face. She blinked at our closeness, and I smiled before biting my bottom lip, causing her to blink multiple times and look away.
"Okay, I'll start from the beginning." I breathed out while bringing my palms together.
"After I left the hospital the day we met, I arrived at the mansion and on my desk was a letter and, in that letter, contained the plea of a dying man for his only daughter, and by the time I reached the final period, I felt like an a**. The next day, I wasn't sure how I would remedy my actions, so I tried to make up for it by removing you away from anything that could've reminded you of your father." I raised my eyes to her face, and she was staring at me intently.
"I wasn't sure how I planned on facing you. I worked all night on the contract, and I even had an approach planned out in my mind, and yet when you opened the door, there was just something about your presence, it caught my attention, it challenged my own personality, and frankly it was refreshing. Even before I stepped foot inside the house, I knew that I craved the challenge you presented. So, I took you home."
