Eren took lead, peaking round the corner. Two enemies. He took a deep breath and took out a grenade he had been given, this was the first time he'd handled one. 'Remove the pin and throw, how hard can it be?' Eren thought, failing to comfort himself. Another deep breath and the pin was removed, the grenade travelling towards to enemies, but before they could react, they were blown to pieces. "Let's go." Eren prompted.
"Where are we meant to go?" Bert asked nervously. The intent of Eren scared him a little.
"The objective was to wipe out the enemy, so I guess we go wherever the enemy is."
"Ok... I guess."
"Don't worry, we'll finish this mission without anyone else dying." There was a look of uncertainty on everyone's faces.
- 5 minutes later -
After what seemed like an eternity of endless corridors and countless waves of enemies, Eren and his team ended up in front of two big reinforced doors. "This looks important." Eren murmured under his breath. "Alright, let's try and get this open." One push from Eren was all it took. The rusted doors creaked on their hinges and it opened, it reminded Eren of the time he saved Christa, this whole place was nostalgic.
As the group entered the room, they were confronted by the enemy who all aimed directly at the four of them. In the centre of the room stood a man in a suit, he was unarmed and smiled as if he was welcoming the group. "Who the hell are you?" Eren asked.
"Now now, Mr Jaeger, let's not get too rash. I'm here to offer you some very useful information." The man in the suit replied.
"And what would that be?" Eren was clenching his fists. "It better be fucking worth it, you've killed one of us."
"That was self defence."
"How the fu-"
"Mr Jaeger please. Let me speak. Now, regarding the information. I think you will be extremely disappointed to know that you have been working with the wrong people."
"What does that mean?"
"It means the military police weren't the ones who turned you into what you are. We didn't even touch a single one of you. But I think this hard drive will explain it better." The man threw a black hard drive to Eren who caught it and inspected it for a few seconds before slipping it into his pockets. "For now we must be quiet, they're here."
"Who?"
"Your creators." Before Eren could respond, the Survey Corps burst through the door and began shooting and throwing grenades. Their numbers were few as it looked like they had taken a few casualties, only Erwin, Levi and Hanji were left. After what was more of a massacre than a fight, Erwin approached Eren and his face grew serious.
"What did he tell you?" Erwin demanded.
"Nothing. He was trying to plead for his life, you know how it is." Eren responded confidently, trying to lie.
"Hmm." The commander inspected Eren. "Well, it looks like the operation was a success."
"I wouldn't call it that. We lost too many people."
"It's war, we're going to lose people."
"Have some fucking sympathy, you cold hearted bastard."
"I'll have sympathy when you have some respect you little shit. Do you have any idea what we went through to get these bastards? No? Then I suggest you shut the fuck up before I shut you up myself." There was a brief stare down between the two that ended with Erwin cracking a smug smile. "You've got balls, kid. I'll give you that."
"Yeah whatever. We're leaving. We'll be back at the hotel. And we're taking Ymir's body with us."
"We will meet you there when we have finished up here." Erwin waved and smiled as the group exited the room and made their way to the place where Ymir's body lay.
Erwin still waved even after the group had long gone. "Why are you still waving?" Levi asked in his usual monotone voice.
"Just making sure they're gone." Erwin responded as his happy face returned to his serious expression.
"What do you think he told them?"
"Too much."
"Will we have to...?"
"Yes. They know, they need to go."
