*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

The bedroom door rattles in its wooden frame loud enough to startle you awake.

"Gut morning mein Silke!"

You inhale sharply at the muffled voice beyond the door. Trapped beneath a warm, heavy arm draped across your chest you panic as you realize that James lays completely naked - save for his threadbare boxers - beside you in bed.

"Buck, get up!" you hiss, giving his arm a shove.

But James doesn't wake. Instead he groans unhappily, grabbing his pillow and pulling it over his head as he turns his sculpted back to you.

"Silke?" Mikolaj calls from beyond the door, knocking twice more. "Breakfast is ready."

"James!" you seethe, grabbing the pillow and trying to rip it away. But his iron grip keeps it locked in place over his head. "Oh for fuck's sake...I know you're awake!"

*Click*

Your eyes dart to the handle of the bedroom door, which has started to turn. You glance back at James, knowing that if Mikolaj walks in and sees a naked man in your bed it's likely to give the old man a heart attack. So without hesitation you bring your knee to your chest and give James a hard kick square in the back, sending him rolling off the far side of the bed. You catch the slightest flash of blue eyes through messy brown hair before he hits the ground with a loud *thump*, but to your relief he stays down as Mikolaj throws the door open and looks around with concern.

"Silke?" he questions, eyes wide with worry. "Are you all right, Mäuschen? I 'sought I heard ein commotion?"

"I'm fine!" you say breathlessly, scrambling from your bed as a sudden racket from the stairwell has both you and Mikolaj glancing towards the door. Frantic and red-faced, Steve bursts in through the doorway, freezing when he sees Mikolaj standing in the center of your room. His eyes dart around, as if searching for something. But he seems to relax when whatever, or whoever, he's looking for isn't in view.

"Steven," you say pointedly, crossing your arms and arching a brow. "Running a little late, are we?"

"Sorry, Y/n," Steve says bashfully, bringing his hand to the back of his neck and rubbing as his cheeks flush even pinker. "He's tricky. Slipped me an old comic book he had from back in the 50s and I...well, it was in color, Y/n! And-,"

"Steve," you say holding up a hand with a laugh. "Don't worry. We - I mean, I - am fine."

"Right," Steve says bashfully, offering you one more apologetic glance before turning back to Mikolaj. "Hey, um, Mickey...how about we go plate breakfast now that she's up. Sound okay?"

Mikolaj gives Steve a nod before stepping up to give you a gentle pat on the cheek and disappearing through your door to head downstairs. Steve follows the old man, pausing in your doorway as he starts to pull the door shut.

"He'll try to come back up in five minutes," Steve says. "That's about how long it takes for him to cycle back around in his head to you. And it's not easy to keep him away from your door."

"Got it," you say with a smile. "Thank you, Steve."

Steve looks like he's about to say something else, but he simply offers you a knowing smile and shuts the door. As soon as the latch clicks into place, you let out a sigh of relief.

"Well, that was cl-oof!"

The wind is knocked from your lungs as a warm chest barrels into you from behind, lifting you from the ground and tossing you roughly onto your back atop the mattress. A small laugh tumbles from your lips as blue eyes crawl mischievously up your body, stopping to plant a trail of kisses up your neck.
