Frerard - New Beginnings

A comfortable silence fell between the two and Frank left his head on Gerard's shoulder, allowing the up and down of his breathing steady his thoughts. He felt Gerard nuzzle his hair with his nose and he looked up to him with a sweet smile. Gerard couldn't seem to help himself as he leaned down and captured Frank's lips with his own. It was a quick, yet gentle kiss; Gerard trying to relieve Frank of any of the hurt he was still clearly carrying around. Then he pulled him down alongside himself, so the two were on their backs and looking up to the dark sky.

"You know?" Gerard began. "I know all the constellations."

"Really?" Frank asked impressed.

"Yeah. Let me show you!"

Frank looked up at the vast array of sparkling orbs and felt his chest lurch when Gerard intertwined their fingers where their hands lay by their sides. He squeezed Gerard's hand, by way of letting him know he appreciated it, and then watched as the redhead pointed skywards with his other hand.

"So. That there......." He said as he swirled his finger in the general direction of the sky, "is the 'Dog with Three Tails'. See!" Gerard pointed.

"What?" Frank laughed.

"There! Look. There's it's head, legs and clearly three tails" Gerard said with certainty.

"Then over there" he pointed over to the left of them, "is the 'Genie in the Saucepan'. Look. See!"

Frank let out an almighty laugh, realising that Gerard had been trying to cheer him up.

"Oh yeah?" Frank chuckled. "And what about that?" he asked pointing to nowhere in particular.

"Oh, well that's obviously 'The Giant Paperclip'. See it?"

Frank was full on belly-laughing at this point.

"Fucking hell Gee. I've never heard so much bullshit in my life."

"How dare you?" Gerard replied in mock anger. "I studied Astrology in school I'll have you know."

"And did you fail every God damn unit?" Frank asked laughing again.

"Um. Yeah. Kinda." Gerard laughed in return.

"Seriously though" he now said, again gazing towards the star flecked nothingness above them. "It's so beautiful."

"Yeah" Frank replied, Gerard feeling him shuffle a little, knowing he wasn't looking up. "So beautiful."

"You're not even looking at the sky Frank" he said sarcastically.

"I wasn't talking about the sky" Frank replied seriously as he leant on his elbow and looked down towards Gerard laying on the sand.

Gerard tilted his head towards Frank. "Oh" he simply replied, before lifting his hand and sliding it around Frank's neck to pull him down into a kiss.

Frank allowed himself to truly enjoy the moment. He had been fighting his feelings for this man but was now accepting that there was something incredible about him that he didn't want to miss out on. He explored Gerard's mouth and savoured the feel of his hands in his hair; fingers sliding through the strands as he let his own roam along Gerard's chest. Their tongues became one as they twisted together; small noises leaving each of their throats.

Eventually the two parted, although Frank stayed mere millimetres from Gerard's face, just looking intently at him.

"Stay with me tonight?" he asked nervously.

"Okay" Gerard replied but with a reassuring smile.

Standing, they walked hand in hand back to Frank's place. Walking slowly, a quiet settled around them. Gerard sensed Frank's unease, so asked him if he was sure this was what he wanted.
