'These are nice? They might fit you as well.' The girl introduced as Meredith held up a nice pair of jeans but the price was was beyond anything is be able to pay back. 'Sure,' she smiled and pointed to a section of formal dresses, 'Joey said I should try and find a pretty dress or something, we can buy some thick tights if you'd find that less revealing.' I hoped I hadn't given away too much but it seemed that wanting to hide had been misconstrued as the desire for female modesty.
'Yes, thicker tights would help,' she holds up a dress with long sleeves, a low collar and a mid thigh hem, it's perfect. I hardly even notice the colour, a deep green. I love it.
She notices my smile and we head to the tights. On our way a young girl, probably younger than me with big staring eyes, she looked like she'd just seen some kind of rock star. 'C-can I have a picture? Please. Sorry.'

Meredith beamed and the girl asked if I'd mind taking it, I took the camera, made sure I got a few good shots and handed it back. The girl checked the photo and chatted to Meredith, I stood by but didn't listen so I wasn't intruding.
When the girl left Meredith apologised for taking so long.
'It's fine but why did she want a picture of you?'
'Search for Starkid on YouTube, that's all I'll say.' And with that, we spoke mo more of it. I found a nice thick pair of tights - I'd look a little bumpy but it's fine.
I tried the dress on and the rest of the clothes and although I looked a little frumpy I felt good.
For the first time in a while I felt safe, like my past was gone and I had friends, it was nice.
