"Tonks?" I asked incredulously as I entered the house, finding the woman laying across the living room sofa.
"Long time no see kid," she greeted me, panting heavily and holding her stomach. Her enlarged stomach.
"Are you..." I started, "in labour?"
"That's what happens when..." – she let out a pained scream – "you're nine months pregnant."
"Alright Tonks," Lupin's voice spoke, and I watched as he hurried in front the kitchen, a wet towel in his hand. He placed it on her forehead, "this is supposed to help."
Nymphadora took a firm grasp of his hand, her grip bringing him to his knees beside her. "You did this to me!" she told him.
"Technically, Sirius is the one that asked you, I would have been alright with adoption," he told her.
"Oh deary," Molly Weasley spoke as she came hurrying down the stairs, a pile of towels in her hands.
Behind her stood almost the entirety of the Weasley family. I also spotted Harry and Hermione.
"Now, everyone out," she told us, taking Tonks' grip from Lupin's and helping him off the ground.
"It's the birth of my child Molly," Remus argued.
"Well, I highly doubt that Tonks wants you to see her vagina," I spoke up.
All heads turned to me, and I straightened, tensing under their gaze.
"Lyra, I –" Lupin started.
"Aghhh," Tonks screamed again, gripping onto the side of the chair she sat on.
"Out," Molly ordered, and Lupin hesitantly left the room. I moved after him.
Then were we alone in the hallway. The occupants that stood on the stairs of the house had retreated back upstairs and it was only Lupin and I left beside the closed door. Tonks screamed in pain.
"Maybe I should check on her," Remus started but I locked the door with a flourish of my hand, stopping the man from going in.
"I've learnt that it's best not to disobey Molly Weasley," I told him. "Or Tonks."
The man sighed. "Neat trick," he commented, pointing to the doorknob.
I shrugged. "It's not mine."
Lupin moved to stand beside me again. "I'm sorry," he apologised.
I nodded slowly. "I know. I'm sorry too."
My uncle shook his head. "What on earth could you have to be sorry for?"
"A lot's happened since you disappeared," I told him. "Since I stopped going home."
"Like what?"
"I joined the Death Eaters," I started, turning my head to look at him. "And before you ask, it was join or die. Voldemort believes in the Prophecy that is written and so he will do anything to make it true."
Lupin shook his head. "I should have been here. I should have gone looking for you. Took you and never let you leave."
"I'd be in just as much danger at home," I told him, turning away.
He looked at me. "What do you mean?"
"Mother," I explained. "She wasn't held captive for fifteen years. She was on Voldemort's side the entire time."
