"What do we do?" Mattheo asked as we quickly rushed through the halls of the school.

"We need to get out of the castle," I replied, turning the corner.

There was a loud cackle as we passed the Great Hall and I watched as Bellatrix cast a spell, the glass in the room shattering and a large gust of wind blowing through it, the enchanted candles that hovered in the air extinguishing.

Just like that, it was broken and destroyed. I had spent a lot of time in that Hall. With my friends, but now I knew that that glass would never shine again like it did before and those candles will never change into pumpkins at Halloween or lanterns at Christmas. They would never light again. Not in the way they had.

Wincing, I brought a hand to my head in pain. Closing my eyes, I found the image of my mother struggling against the chains that wrapped themselves around her. I tightened them.

"Lyra?" Draco asked and when I opened my eyes I found both him and Mattheo looking at me. They were scared, looking around them nervously as thought expecting an attack.

"I'm good," I told them. "Just loosened my grip for a second."

"Lyra!" a shout came and the three of us turned, watching as four figures rushed down the corridor.

"Fuck," I cursed. "Are you guys alright?"

"We just woke up to an ambush," Pansy began. "How do you think we are?"

I sighed. "We need to get out of the castle."

"What exactly is going on?" Theo prosed.

"I'd like to know the answer to that as well," Blaise added.

"It worked, didn't it?" Flint asked. "You got the Cabinet to work and now the Death Eaters are taking over the school."

I nodded solemnly "Yeah."

"Did –" Pansy started turning my attention to her. "Did you do it? Did you –"

I knew what she was talking about. How could I not? "Yeah. I did."

"Fuck Black," Marcus sighed, running a hand through his hair as he scanned our surroundings. "We should be able to make it out through the grounds. Everyone is either staying in their dorms or fighting. It should be safe."

"Alright," Mattheo agreed, taking hold of my hand. "Let's go."

"Wait," I stopped them, causing the group to turn towards me.

"What's wrong?" Pansy asked.

"This is it," I told them. "This is moment where we have to decide."

Riddle's face turned to a knowing expression. He knew what I was talking about. The others, not so much.

"What are you talking about?" Theo asked me incredulously. "We need to get out of here."

I shook my head. "This is where we need to decide what side of this war we're on."

There was a small silence. Pansy was the first to speak. "Everything I love is on the Light," she told us, "and so I choose that."

"Me too," Blaise added.

Flint spoke next. "We're Death Eaters," he began. "Do we get to choose a side?"

"Yes," I told him sternly. "We didn't choose to be what we are, and so that's what I'm doing now. I'm giving you the choice to fight for the Light within the Dark."
