Word Count: 2,376 words.

Warnings: None.

"No, no, no, no," I muttered as I took Mattheo into my arms, resting his head against the crook of my elbow. His breathing was shallow and his white shirt was covered in blood but I tried to pay no attention to it as I forced a smile.

He raised a hand, reaching out to touch my face. "You're alive," he breathed.

I nodded furiously. "I've alive and well," I told him, reaching over his stomach. The blade had gone straight through. "Now, you have to stay with me, alright?"

He nodded slowly but I could see his eyes threatening to close. "I can... stay..."

"Hey, hey, stop it," I warned him, turning his face to look at me. "We aren't done. I didn't just get a second chance only to lose it again."

He smiled. "I'm sorry." He coughed, blood falling from his lips.

"Fuck," I cursed, rocking back and forth. I took my wand from my pocket, casting a healing charm. Nothing changed. "Why isn't it working?"

"She used a cursed knife," Abe told me, approaching us. He was holding the bloodied dagger in his hand. "Spells aren't going to work."

"Lyra?" Draco questioned, jogging over to us. He smiled for a moment before it fell as his eyes landed on Mattheo. "Oh Merlin."

Theo, Marcus, Pansy and Blaise appeared behind him, all looking more than worse for wear. They shared in Draco's joy and sadness.

"We have to do something," I told them. "There has to be... something... Abe..."

He shook his head lightly. "I'm sorry Lyra."

"No," I muttered. "No. I don't accept that. There's always something."

"Lyra..." Riddle mumbled.

"Yeah?" I asked, brushing the hair back from him face and rubbing my thumb along his cheek gently. "I'm right here."

"I love you..." he managed.

"I love you too," I replied, letting out a small sob. "I love you too."

His hand dropped from my face as he let out his last breath. My sob became louder as I rest my forehead against his chest. I let out a scream, gripping his clothes tightly. There were arms around my shoulders, turning me to the side. I cried into their chest. Theo ran a gentle hand across my hair. It was numbing. The pain.

Numbing was an odd word to use but it was the only one that felt right. Numbing. I struggled to take breaths, gasping as though I was the one who had been stabbed. My heart felt as though someone had ripped it from my chest and now dangled it above me tauntingly. I tried to reach it, to pull it back to me but it was only getting further away.

"Lyra?" Harry asked.

I turned to look at him. "Potter."

"How are you alive?" he asked, glancing at Mattheo for a moment. He shook his head.

"It doesn't matter anymore," I muttered, my fingers touching his face delicately. "He's gone. Why is he gone?"

Harry nodded, falling back slightly, taking Draco's hand in his. He placed the other in his pocket.

I looked at Mattheo again, sniffling. "Open your eyes," I begged. "Open your eyes. Please, just... look at me... please. We haven't had our dream yet..."

"What's this?" Potter asked suddenly, taking the stone from his pocket. "A gem?"

My eyes widened, looking at Abe. He quickly took the stone from Harry's hand. "Where's the wand?"
