I rapidly called upon my aura, alongside my Lucario, and created a shield that covered us all.
"What in the name of Arceus was that?!" Professor Oak exclaimed in shock, as he grabbed Mrs. Ketchum and pulled her close.
"If I had to guess we were greeted by Zekrom," I deadpanned drily. Because of our plans of going to Unova and Ash's bad luck when it came to Legendaries, he demanded we all memorized every legend from Unova. "On the first day... come on!"
"At least, we know that this is not going to be a boring journey," Max chuckled, sheepishly. "I feel like I should apologized... I kind of jinxed us."
"If anything it was Ashy who jinxed us... or was it Arceus by making my son The Chosen One?" Mrs. Kecthum tilted her head thoughtfully, before smiling reassuringly at Max. "Don't worry about it. Just remember to stay safe and have fun!"
"Hey! I am so sorry I am late!" Suddenly a red SUV zoomed in and stopped before us. A beautiful brunette woman jumped out of the car apologizing at us. "Is everyone ok? I caught the lightshow as I was driving, did anyone get caught?"
"No, we are fine," Lucario bowed at Professor Juniper. "We were just being greeted to Unova."
"Do you have friends here?" Professor Juniper asked us surprised.
"You could say that..." Max laughed awkwardly.
"It would be more appropriate to say that it is a future friend... hopefully," I wwhispered the last part, almost like a prayer.
I've only traveled with Ash once and I've already met over ten Legendary pokemon and one of them was Arceus! I exclaimed internally. Zekrom please be a friend!
"It's always good to meet new friends!" Professor Juniper smiled at us oblivious of our desesperation. "Let's move! I have a new trainer waiting for us in the Lab! He is a smart fella that one, graduated from high school at 15!"
"Nice!" Max exclaimed in appreciation. "Can we watch him get his starter?"
"Of course!" Professor Juniper easily agreed, as she started her car again and drive us away. "Where's Ash?"
"He is meeting the Ace Rangers of the region," Mrs. Ketchum answered. Before Professor Juniper could ask anything else, she got distracted by Professor Oak- who was asking questions about her last research paper. Max and I, as Lucario had to returned to his Poke Ball for the lack of space in the car, got dragged into a conversation by Mrs. Ketchum. She was very interested to know about our plans in Unova, where we will go first, what kind of pokemon Max was expecting to catch, and many other questions. By the time we reached the Lab, Max and I were very grateful we did not have to answer any other question. As much as I love Mrs. Ketchum she can be... a lot. Sometimes! "Trip! Hi! Sorry for being late! I had to pick up Professor Oak and his party."
I released Lucario from his Poke Ball and followed the rest of our group in the Lab. In there was the rookie trainer Professor Juniper had mentioned. He did look around Ash's age, but I could see the lack of training from him. Ash's muscles were formed and firm thanks to the Aura Guardian and Ace Ranger training he had to go through. Trip was about Ash's height, with dirty blond hair and pale grey eyes. Unlike Ash who normally stuck to red or blue colors in his outfit, he was wearing grey jeans with a purple t-shirt, below a black jumper and orange jacket. Ash's new outfit was conformed of light-blue jeans, a cool red outlined white shirt above a black t-shirt, black fingerless gloves, and a red and white hat. The hat design was based on a Poke Ball, which had Ash fascinated with it.
Trip snapped his gaze at Professor Oak, I could see the interest in his eyes, but he kept quiet and simply nodded his head. He quietly greeted us all, before following Professor Juniper towards the three regional starters.
"Is there something wrong with him?" Max asked me quietly.
"He is not shy," I answered him. "I believe he is a reserved individual who tends to keep his feelings to himself."
"Is that your aura training speaking?" Max inquired excited, always loving to learn new things- especially about aura and Ash.
"No, that's my training under Reggie to learn the difficult and complex language known as Paulish," I deadpanned, making him burst into giggles.
I smiled down at the young boy, before turrning to Professor Juniper just in time for her to send out the three starters. "First we have the Fire-type Tepig!" Professor Juniper announced, pointing the only quadrupedal pokemon. He was primarily orange, with oval eyes, a red nose, and a thick yellow stripe on its snout. He has long, pointed ears but short legs. His curly tail is tipped with a ruddy red sphere, and is the cutest thing I've ever seen since Lucario used to be a Riolu! "Then we have the Water-type Oshawott!" The bipedal pokemon has a spherical white head with small, triangular dark-blue ears on the sides. His eyes are dark and its dark-orange nose is shaped like a horizontal oval. The light blue fur on his body forms bubble shapes around its neck and his arms are white and rounded, while his feet are dark blue with three toes each. He also possesses a rudder-like dark blue tail and carries a pale yellow seashell called a on his belly. The cute pokemon did a proud pose, puffing his chest out, making me chuckle. "Last, but not the least, we have Snivy the Grass-tye pokemon!" Most of his body is green with a cream underside. A yellow stripe runs down the length of his back and tail, and he has yellow markings around his large eyes. Two curved yellow structures that resemble leaves or small wings protrude from his shoulders and bend backwards. He has a large, palmate leaf with three prongs on the end of his tail.
Trip takes out his camera, snaps a quick picture of the three, and then announced:"I'll choose Snivy." The Grass Snake pokemon smirks, leaving Tepig slightly annoyed and Oshawott extremely shocked. "Thank you," he thanked Professor Juniper as he received his Pokedex, five Poke Balls, and the Poke Ball of his starter.
"He totally already knew what pokemon he would choose," Max whispered to me.
"That's a pity, because Oshawott is so cute!" We all rapidly turned around, to catch a smilling Ash as he walked forward and picked up the frozen Oshawott. "Here, here, you don't have to hold it anymore," and just like magic Oshawott cried on Ash's chest. "There, there, release it all sweetie," he soothingly patted the pokemon's back, as Pikachu, on his shoulder, patted Oshawott's head.
"Only Ashy," Mrs. Ketchum chuckled.
"They bonded," Lucario stated, eyes shinning with aura power.
"Then I better give him his Poke Ball," Professor Juniper commented, as she walked to our side.
"Is that ok? Won't you need a Water-type starter in case another trainer comes," Professor Oak asked her concerned.
"The poor pokemon had been passed on for a long time," Professor Juniper sighed sadly. "He is starting to get old to keep as a starter pokemon."
"Good thing Ash is here then," Max commented. "Then again, he tends to always appear on the right moment.
"That's Ash for you," I replied with a bemused smile. "Here I'll take the Poke Ball for him."
I took the Poke Ball from Professor Juniper, smiling as Ash continued to comfort the sad pokemon. By the corner of my eye I noticed Trip leaving the Lab with a strange look on his face, as he kept looking back on Ash and Oshawott.
What's that all about? I thought confused. Well it doesn't matter, I shook my head and followed Professor Juniper to her house. The promise of food being too good. I hate plane food! Unova here we go!
