♡︎ — act ii. man of many namesCHAPTER FIVE — through the window
❀
I could hear their muffled bickering through my wooden slab of a door as I stared up at the blank white ceiling before me, my thoughts mimicing the appearance of the speckled surface as my breathing became more noticeable due to the idleness of my body.
I haven't slept since I had found out.
I figured a nightmare would be the cherry on top and I'd finally take it upon myself to go completely batshit. So I decided I'd rather stay up for 10 hours straight than protect my eyes from that burning lack of sleep that's staring to take effect.
Because why tell people about your problems when you can choose the healthy alternative and go clinically fucking insane right? As you can see I have a way with expressing my emotions and making my day much more gloomy than it has to be.
Let's see if I can brighten up this chapter.
Dina came over today.
Never mind. I lied.
A few hours after that asshole's face got plastered all over the news she had appeared on our doorstep with a lead on Billy and the hidden intention to wave off any possible rouge plans Frank had stored in the back of his mind.
I could only make out small bits of their conversation due to the distance between us making their voices fuzzy so at some point I just stopped listening.
With a sigh my hand shoots up to gently place Elvis's fur covered body to the side causing his light purrs to come to a halt due to them being cut off by the sudden movement.
I quickly throw my legs over the side of the bed turning towards the nightstand that my phone had been sitting on since last night. It's red silicone case contrasting from the brown oakwood. Snatching it off of the small dresser a slight creaking sound echoed throughout the room when I yanked open the drawer and began fishing through an overflowing sea of junk for my headphones.
"Come on." I groan to myself in frustration before finally getting a grip on the slim black wire and yanking them out of the mess.
Connecting the ear buds to my phone I use my left foot to slam the drawer shut before readjusting myself on the bed making sure that the two buds were snug in my ears before turning on my side.
I quickly clicked open the device once I had found a comfortable position on my bed, my body facing opposite from the door when I'm immediately blinded by the brightness of my screen. Almost instinctively my eyes squeezed shut at the burning sensation it had caused as I winced a bit too dramatically.
