Diagon Alley

A normal day on summer vacay. Well, at least normal for us, it goes like that. Just good old boring summer days pass by until the end of August. The day my fellow poor sisters remember to buy stuff in Diagon Alley, obviously having trouble finding the list they received 2 weeks ago and Apparating at noon.

But this year is different. Instead of Julie joining, I'll join Amy and Liv. Yes! This year I start my first year at Hogwarts. And Julie just finished school. She'd work as a dress designer for Madam Malkin's shop, so she'll join us to work.

"Amy, come on! What's taking you so long?", Julie shouted towards Amy and Olivia's closed bedroom door.

"Juju please stop shouting!" Liv called. We both were already downstairs eating breakfast.

Amy was taking too long to get ready. I had a guess why, but I couldn't be sure.

She'd been crushing on Albus Potter, Harry Potter's son, for quite a while. I'm sure of it because every time I say something about Lily, his sister who is my age, or their family, she flushes like a tomato. James, of course, was the Quidditch jock, so he already got someone – plus, he's way too old for her. And that leaves only one option. And I'm not going to lie, I saw Albus a couple of times in my life and he's a heck of an attractive boy.

We'll find out in Diagon Alley.

As soon as we Apparated at Diagon Alley, I was about to pass out.

It was HUGE. I've never been here before. Well, yes, I have, but only once, when Julie was in her first year, and mum and dad were still together. I was 4 at the time, how could I remember?

"Let's go to Flourish and Botts first, but whatever Amy needs and instead of buying new books for Abby, she can have Olivia's first-year books. Well, it was Julie's but... still", my mum suggested.

"Mum, we're not poor!", I complained, scared to death that kids would bully me for having second-hand books, "We can afford new books for me! Also, we have to get new ones because Julie's books are already ripping apart, I won't look like a bloody-"

"Fine! Gosh, Abby you're annoying!", Amy lost her nerve.

We entered Flourish and Botts and as soon as I saw Lily Potter, I went to her. "Hi, Lily!"

"Hello, Abby! How are you?", it was Ginny, Lily's mother, who asked. And Lily beside her gave me a huge smile. "Abby! What's up?"

"I'm good, thanks! How are you?", I grinned back.

"We're all right here, thanks. James and Albus need to come here any minute now. My dad couldn't come but he's good. Good to see you, Abby!"

"You too", I replied. We kept chattering and every time Lily mentioned Albus I saw Amy in the corner of my eye getting a light blush. And when he did come, eventually, she took Olivia's hand and got out of the store gingerly. Which left me to help mum with all the buying.

But I didn't care about my stupid sister and her crush. I was finally going to Hogwarts! With my best friend!
