29 | Coward

"Jeongin's been busy," I said, Minho continues to prepare the table as we wait for his brother.

He freezes for a second before turning around and nodding "Yeah he works a lot". He walks past me and into the kitchen.

I turn and follow him with my eyes as he puts away the glasses he had taken out earlier. "I never asked, what does he do?"

I was genuinely curious and the way Minho was acting now that I have asked only made my curiosity grow.

He looks at me and tried to hide his nervousness but I saw through him. He was hesitating and in a way he was asking me to drop it but I didn't because this was Jeongin, his brother.

Before I could question him more the sound of knocking on the door interrupted us. I look over to it and I hear Minho let out a small sigh, I look over to him.

"Be nice" Minho says to me and I roll my eyes playfully.

"I'm always nice darling" I respond to him as he walks to the door and I follow him slowly.

Jeongin is seeing someone and that's why this dinner was planned. He wanted Minho to meet the girl and I offered to leave for the time being but Minho insisted for me to stay so here I am.

Minho opens the door and greets his brother with a hug and turns to the unfamiliar girl who has dark brown hair. "You must be Ellie"

"That's me," She says shyly but she seemed surprised when Minho pulled her in for a hug.

She seemed nice, and a little innocent which made me suspicious but Jeongin was like a little brother to me so maybe I'm just being protective.

The attention suddenly went on me and I realized they had entered the apartment and Minho was now introducing me, probably because I'm just standing here awkwardly. "This is Jisung, my boyfriend"

Boyfriend. It rolls so beautifully off his tongue, I want to take him right here and right now.

"Oh, Jeongin has talked about you" The girl we know as Ellie said.

My eyebrows raised and we make our way to the table, "Oh yeah? All good things about my boyfriend I hope" Minho speaks up. I was getting the feeling that he was scared of what I would say so he does it for me.

We all sit down and Ellie nods with a chuckle "Yes, of course". As we start to put food on our plate her eyes roam the table "The food looks delicious"

Minho smiles widely "Thank you". She was getting on his good side, it was so obvious that she was trying hard.

I felt a hand on my lower thigh, making me look over to Minho and he gives an irritated look. I now notice that my judging was visible and I immediately straighten up my posture and look at Ellie with a forced smile. I will try to keep my judging to myself for Jeongin and myself because if I don't behave I'll probably have to be on the couch tonight.

"How did y'all meet?" I ask, not because I was interested but because I had to seem like I was. I grab my fork and start to eat as Ellie looks at Jeongin briefly before looking back and forth between Minho and me.

"Funny story actually" She chuckles and so did Jeongin, "He actually pulled me over one night"

Minho's hand tensed on my thigh and I froze, swallowing my food harshly. "Pulled you over?" I ask, hoping I heard wrong. I look at Minho and he refused to look at me.

"Yeah, because he's a cop. He had said I was speeding but till this day I don't think I was" Ellie continues. Jeongin speaks up and they go back and forth but I don't hear a thing as I try to process what was just said.
