"Leaving?" I heard Dara's melodic voice asking from behind me. I had just stepped out of my office and my back was to her.
"Yeah." I replied without turning around.
I was still upset that she dismissed the kiss we shared as nothing. I stood there waiting for her to say something else, anything, just so I could hear her voice because I was that pathetic. I was pathetically in love with a woman who only thought of me as a little boy. When she still didn't say anything more I was tempted to turn around too see if she was still there but I stopped myself. I had told myself I wouldn't continue to desperately follow after her like an obsessed fanboy.
I walked away.In my car I rested my head on my steering wheel and let out a deep sigh. OK I couldn't dwell on Dara though. I had a job to do.
Sitting outside in my car I watched Xiumin enter a cafe and sit down. He had a window seat so I could easily see him from where I sat. I had been watching whom, following him by step for five hours now and still no suspicious activities. I kept my eyes trained on him. He was obviously waiting for someone but who? I grabbed the sandwich which I had resting on the passengers seat and took a big bite. As I chewed eagerly a girl appeared and sat across from Xiumin. I almost spit out my sandwhich.
What was she doing here?
Naeun reached out and linked her fingers with Xiumin across the table. What was going on? Why was Minzy's little sister with him? Knowing how dangerous Xiumin most likely was I wanted to go over there and pull Naeun away but I couldn't reveal myself. I didn't know what the situation was. All I could do was watch.
They laughed, and ate, and touched each other a lot. It seemed like they were on a date. As the sky got darker Naeun stood up to leave. She must've been heading home.
When Naeun left Xiumin got into his car and I followed. He parked and got out and walked down a dark alley. Of course it was a dark alley. Why couldn't criminals ever pick a bright and sunny park or something for their illegal meetings?
I waited a few minutes ensuring that he was far enough ahead of me before getting out of the car. I quietly walked down the alley until I heard voices. I hid behind a stack of barrels and cautiously peeked out.
"They found the listening device. We're going to have to move up the timetable. They're getting to close to us." A guy I've never seen before said.
"What about the inside guy what the hell is he there for if he can't keep them off our back?"asked Luhan.
"That's what I would like to know." The guy said.
"You can't put it all on me. What about Tao? You said how superior he was and a master manipulator but he's not keeping the team off our backs either so don't look to blame me."
I got my second big shock of the day as the person who just spoke stepped forward.
"Watch your tone Congressmen Lee. Remember who's in charge here and that its not you." The guy said.So in shock at finding out Congressmen Lee was in league with the very guys we were hunting down I took a step back and knocked into one of the piles of barrels behind me. The force of me knocking into them sent them crashing to the ground and like in slow motion they all turned and looked at me.
I was outnumbered my only choice was to run. I sprinted away as fast as I could. Thunder rumbled as the sky turned black. Even though the thunder in the sky was loud the sound of footsteps behind me was louder. Something crashed into me from behind and I tumbled to the ground. I rolled over quickly and shoved throwing the weight off me. I stood and got into a fighting formation. It was Chen. He smirked at me before lunging at me.
We were pretty evenly matched. We went round and round in circles hitting and kicking each other until I finally outmaneuvered him sweeping his feet from out under him and knocking him to the ground. I turned prepared to get to my car and get away when Luhan stood before gun drawn.I froze. This was it. The last moment of my life. There was no way they would let me leave here alive.
Without hesitation Luhan pulled the trigger. Once , twice,
BANG, three
BANG, four
BANG, FiveIt hurt at first but then the pain stopped as I lay on the pavement. My eyes closed.
I opened my eyes with extremely effort.
Opening them felt like I was attempting to lift a truck. Finally I got them open. Rain drops were falling from the sky. Some even fell into my eyes but I didn't feel it. With shaking and numb fingers I grasped my phone in my pants pocket and slowly lifted it. With my last strength I pressed speed dial number 1.
"What Chanyeol?" Dara answered sounding exasperated.
I tried to open my mouth to speak but nothing would come out.
"Hello?" She asked. "If your prank calling me you should've at least put your number private dummy."
I tried to speak again and all that would come out was a tortured groan.
"Chanyeol." She said sounding more worried now."Congressman Lee." I was able to whisper.
"What? What's wrong? Are you OK?" She asked frantically.
I had to get this out. I had to let them know whom they couldn't trust.
"Congressman Lee. He's working with them." I was able to slowly get out. I could feel my strength waning and there was one more thing I needed to say. "I love you Sandara Park."The phone slipped from my fingers and my eyes closed as I drifted off with only one image in my head, one voice in my ears, and one woman in my heart.
