Chapter 26

Sakura's P. O. V:

A few days later, as I ride Miyu next to Sesshomaru, Jaken says, "Hm, that Naraku! Just wait! I'll show him a thing or two! I assure you!" He giggles to himself.

Suddenly, Sesshomaru stops and so do we.

Rin questions, riding on A-Un, "So I was wondering, Sesshomaru-sama, why do you seek Naraku?"

Jaken asks, glancing at her, "Don't you know anything? It's because that Naraku abducted you that Sesshomaru-sama is bent on vengeance."

"Huh?! It's all because of me?!" Rin asks, smiling.

Jaken tells her in exasperation, "Don't be so conceited, you silly child! It's not about you. Sesshomaru-sama's honour has been insulted! Don't let his calm demeanour fool you. Underneath, he is a boiling, angry, seething mass of—!" Jaken is cut off when he collides with Sesshomaru's leg, but the dog demon doesn't even flinch. Very slowly, Jaken raises his eyes up to Sesshomaru, only for his face to pale at the look of rage glimmering in his golden orbs. "Uh oh!" Sesshomaru hits the top of Jaken's head, knocking him on his stomach, before he stalks away. "I've gotta learn to keep my mouth shut!"

Having dismounted, Rin says to him, "I see what you mean."

I gaze after Sesshomaru as he walks off.

Third Person's P. O. V:

Sesshomaru eventually comes upon a house where there's smoke.

Sesshomaru goes up to the house, sending familiar presences. When he arrives, he sees Miroku and Sango have collapsed as well as Kilala, now in her small size.

As the dog demon draws closer to the house, he hears a human saying something about Kagome not being suited to be his bride.

Sesshomaru stops inside and thrusts out his hand, striking the human in the back with his green toxic poison.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome exclaims in immense relief.

Sesshomaru finishes off the human with a slash of his poison claws, causing the human to go rigid before he hits the floor heavily. Kagome gasps in confusion upon seeing the aristocratic assassin instead of the half demon, as Sesshomaru drags his claws away.

Sesshomaru says, "Tell me, is Inuyasha here?"

The human demands, "And who are you?!" He has red lines on his cheeks and around his eyes and wears a bandanna of some kind.

Sesshomaru glares at the demon as he retorts, "I was about to ask you that."

The human asks, flabbergasted, "You... tried to kill me and you don't even know me?!" He snatches up a box with straps filled with hard of poison.

He scurries outside as Sesshomaru states, "You felt the pain of my toxic claws, and yet you're still able to run?"

The poison master laughs, holding two jars of poison, "Take this!" A brown and black poison hits Sesshomaru right in the face. "Taste my poison!" The poison clears. Due to Sesshomaru being a powerful demon, he was unaffected. The human gasps in shock. Sesshomaru stalks towards him. He staggers back, dropping the jars and throwing out a hand while begging. "Wait-Wait! Please, wait!" He trembles in fear. "I'm sorry! I was too hasty! Please spare me! Don't kill me!" The human whips around and clutches his head as Sesshomaru stops. "Don't kill meeee!! To show you my sincerity... here's a little present!"

The human whips out a large jar and rusty brown poison shoots out of it, hitting Sesshomaru. The human laughs.

"Goodbye, my friend! This poison even kills demons like you." The human gasps in confusion when the poison reveals us to be unharmed. "It's not working, yet it's my very finest poison!"

Sesshomaru takes out Tokijin. With a swift slash, his sword unleashes an upward arc of blue Kenatsu. It cuts clean through the poison master, making him scream in pain. His flesh disintegrates as a jewel shard falls to the ground with his skeleton, and he sheathes Tokijin once more.

Sesshomaru tells him simply, "Your primitive concoctions are no match for my superior powers."

"Kagome!" The golden eyed demon looks to see Inuyasha calling as he runs over to him, Shippo on his left shoulder. They stare at Sesshomaru in surprise. "Sesshomaru?" Inuyasha turns his head to the house only to let out a gasp. He dashes over while Shippo drops from his shoulder and stops in the hole in the wall. "Kagome!"

Shippo runs over as he exclaims, green eyes wide, "Aaahh! They all look like they're dead!"

Inuyasha scowls as he whips around to his older brother, fists clenched, anger plastered on his features, "What did you do to them, Sesshomaru?!"

"No!" Kagome groans out, gaining Inuyasha's attention. She's now leaning up on her elbows. "It's not what it looks like. Sesshomaru saved us."

"No, I didn't save you. He couldn't answer my questions, so I got rid of him. Simple as that," The aristocratic assassin says without looking at them.

"What questions?" Inuyasha demands to know.

Sesshomaru responds, still without looking at them, "I caught the boy, Kohaku's scent." Inuyasha gasps in shock at this. Sesshomaru narrows his eyes at his younger half brother. "Does that means Naraku is near?" Inuyasha doesn't respond. "Answer me, Inuyasha: where is Naraku?"

Inuyasha responds truthfully, "We haven't been able to find him yet, either. But now we've got these phantoms possessing sacred jewel shards coming after us." Inuyasha turns his head to me, Shinobu and Sesshomaru. "I'm sure Naraku's close by!"

"That's all I need to know," Says Sesshomaru before he turns around.

Inuyasha calls, "Sesshomaru!"

But his older brother doesn't look back or stop.

Sakura's P. O. V:

I let out a sigh with my chin in my hand as I wait for Sesshomaru and Shinobu plays with Karina, Rin swinging her legs back and forth.

Rin says aloud, "Sesshomaru-sama sure late. Now I wish I had gone with him."

Jaken says to her, perched at the end of the log, "Nonsense! There were definitely signs of poison where Sesshomaru-sama was going. If you'd gone with him, you'd be pushing up daisies for sure!"

Rin and I both let out depressed sighs as the brunette mumbles, "I guess you're right."

Suddenly, I hear Rin gasp as her eyes jerk to the left, towards the trees. Her hand flies to her mouth.

Jaken asks, looking at Rin, "What is it, Rin?"

Dropping her hand from her mouth, the brunette turns to me as she responds, "Oh, it's nothing."

"Hm," He hums as he averts his gaze.

Waiting is sooo boring!

"Please hurry back, Sesshy-kun," I think.
