Chapter 34

Sakura's P. O. V:

The sun shines brightly down on us as I ride Miyu next to Sesshomaru, Karina curled up in the saddle in front of me, as Shinobu rides Seiji next to A-Un who is carrying Rin sidesaddle, Jaken breathing heavily as he walks in front of the two headed dragon.

Jaken wants to know, "Sesshomaru-sama, where are we headed?" The dog demon doesn't respond as he stops and gazes around. I halt Miyu next to him. "Did you hear me, Sesshomaru-sama?"

Sesshomaru tells him, "Do not ask me, Jaken."

"Eh? Then who, pray tell, should I ask?" No response. I gaze at my lover questioningly, silently wondering what's on his mind. Jaken turns to A-Un. "How about you, A-Un?" The dragon just groans in response. "I'm sure Sakura, Shinobu or Rin don't know anything..."

Finally, Sesshomaru speaks up, "This is it." He starts walking forward, much to our confusion. "This time, I shall kill him."

Jaken makes a startled noise as he scrambles back.

Shinobu warns him in a hushed whisper as I follow Sesshomaru, "Jaken-sama, better not ask him unnecessary questions. Or else he said that he's going to kill you."

Jaken mumbles in a dejected tone, "Yeah, okay..."

Making sure Rin won't hear, I ask Sesshomaru, "Is it Kohaku?" Sesshomaru remains silent. I deadpan. "You're going to make me guess, aren't you?"

"If you must know, it's Naraku," The dog demon tells me, making me blink in surprise.

"Oh. Now I see."

By nightfall, we pause at a river as an owl hoots in the distance.

"Sesshomaru-sama?" Jaken asks, stopping behind the dog demon. Sesshomaru glances down at him, startling the imp. "Oh, it's nothing, My Lord! Nothing!" Jaken scurries back until his back hits A-Un's front left leg, beads of sweat digging his face. Jaken bows. "Sorry!" Sesshomaru turns back around. Jaken heaves a groan of exhaustion as he leans back against A-Un's leg.

Rin suggests as she goes up to him and clasps her hands under her cheek cutely, "Jaken-sama! You should practice and learn to turn each one of your sighs into pretty little flowers! Because then there would be flowers everywhere!" She throws her arms up for emphasis.

"Be quiet, girl!" Jaken snaps back. I kick Miyu into a brisk walk after Sesshomaru as he enters the river, causing Jaken, Rin and Shinobu to glance at us. "Please do t leave us! Sesshomaru-sama!" The imp scurries after us.

We walk for sometime after that along a cliff until we reach a field of pink flowers. After I'd changed into my armor, I go with Sesshomaru and Shinobu to look ahead while Rin stays behind with Jaken.

When we return, we continue for awhile until we stop on a cliff. A thunderstorm appears and demons spill out of the clouds. I'd changed into my armor yet again.

Jaken questions, "Are those Naraku's demons, Sesshomaru-sama?"

Sesshomaru doesn't respond for awhile, still gazing towards the demons. Finally, he and I turn as the dog demon orders, "Let's go."

"Yes, My Lord," Chimes Jaken as we leave the cliff. "I will follow you anywhere!" Sesshomaru, Shinobu, Rin and I walk on ahead, the three of us riding the horses and dragon. "Oh, wait for me, Sesshomaru-sama!!" Jaken scurries after us.

Sometime later, Jaken groans, walking with his head down, "Oh! How long will this journey last?" Jaken suddenly looks up with a gasp. We'd stopped by a destroyed mountain where a headless white giant bird lies.
