fly away little butterfly
far from your home
away from the only place
you have ever known
leave the darkness behind
for you were born to thrive in light.
fly to the flowers
meet with bees
make love with spring
and dance with the trees
because that's what you were born for
to thrive in beauty.
fly to the girl
who just wants you
to sit on her hands
because she thinks
you are exotic;
you are out of the world;
you are unattainable.
but beware oh beautiful being
of kids with nets.
no malice in their hearts
no evil intents
they too want to see you
they too want to play
at the price of your freedom
at the price of your existence
that they unintentionally
take away.
you flew from your home
that dark and dusky haven
yet it was the only safe place
you had ever known.
