Chapter 5

I woke up back in my bed and next to Layton. He was awake staring at me. When I woke up his eye got big.

"Are you okay?" he asked. I looked around this was defintly the room that we stayed in before my dad took me.  I nodded he relaxed which I didnt know he was tense until he relaxed. I sat up in the bed along with him. I saw his arm and hand and it was injured. He looked like he may have broke his hand. I looked up at him worried.

"Oh dont worry we tend to heal quicker than most people. " We I questioned and there is one thing that I have mastered with my powers and that was healing. I always had to heal my mom when my dad would hit her so she could go to work the next day without being questioned. Healing required the engery of being happy that I knew and I had plenty of moments of happiness with my mom. I held my hand over his arm and hand and just thought happy thoughts and before I knew it he could move his hand and the cuts and bruises were gone. He looked at me in shock.

"How did you do that?" I was still tired I just wanted sleep so I cuddled back up to him and hugged him as tight as I could making sure he didn't get away and I went back to sleep.

***********************************************************************************************When I woke up He was still next to me but he was asleep. I got up and went to find my mom I know she's worried sick about me. She was downstairs with that Dan guy was rubbing her back and Axe and Sarah was in front of her. When she caught sight of me she ran to me and hugged me. Which that hurt but I let her do it was mom you know.

"Thank god you are awake! I was so worried about you and the stupid kid wouldn't let anyone near you."

"Frankie" Sarah growled she sighed

"Im sorry. How are you feeling? she was down in front of me now squatting. Then I felt a gush of wind from behind me and turned around and it was Layton. He looked angry.  I turned back around to face my mom.

"I'm fine" I told her. she sighed a relief and you see the weight off her shoulders when I said that. Like it looked like it took 6 years away from her.

"Thank god. I am so sorry Rosie mommy should have never left you but you know what I promise you will never be alone ever again." I hugged her.

"It is not your fault mom." She was crying I can hear it. She hugged me back tighter. These are the best hugs ever. Then my stomach growled and my mom laughed and wiped her tears.

"You must be starving lovebug. Lets go get you something to eat."

"Not mac and cheese" I yelled.  My heart started to race and my head was getting all swimmy and my breathing picked up. I was thinking about my dad he fed me mac and cheese every night.  Layton must have picked up on it because he came and stood beside me making sure I was okay I guess. That was very sweet of him.

"Alright no mac and cheese. Axe do we have pp and j?"

"Sure we do." My mom sat me at the table and told me not to move while she fixed my food. Layton sat next to me he looked calm now which I guess is okay. I don't want to get him mad since I know what he can do angry apparently. Sarah grabbed Layton's wrist.

"Layton what happened to your wrist." He looked over at me and then back at his mom.

"Well we heal faster than most people right?" He answered

"Not that fast!" Axe walked over to him and held it like it was limp noodle and let it go making sure it was really healed.

"Uh that is funny. Layton explain."

"Um..."

"I did it." I said grabbing the sandwich my mom made me and taking a bite. Everyone looked at me.

"You?" Axe questioned me.

"Yeah I healed him since he helped me." The pp and j was the best at the moment. Then everyone looked at my mom.

"Shit" she whispered. Then she sighed a big sigh

"Rosie has some powers. I don't really know what they are. She can heal I know that and sometimes when she's really sad or happy she can make a tree grow or a limb stretch but we haven't fully mastered it. It happens with her emotions. One of the many reasons I have to protect her and her father wanted her."

"Powers that's pretty dope." Axe said.

"She just got them like 3 years ago. Her father was hit...being a asshole and she saw it and she screamed at the top of her lungs and a fucking tree branch came right into the living room snatched him up and almost choked the shit out of him. " I was still swinging my legs on the table and eating my pp and j and slighting dancing. I probley looked crazy and I probley scared Sarah and Axe.

"That can come in handy one day."

"Yeah when she did that she also passed out for 3 days and I couldn't get her to wake up. She scared the crap out of me. We haven't mastered the powers yet so that does not need to happen again but she's got the healing down packed but everything else is not. We just have to be careful around her like try not to make her so upset her make her cry. She must really like layton though she doesn't just go around healing people. I told her to keep it away until we could further explain to you guys so.....surprise!" Everyone was looking at us like we grew two heads. I had finished the pp and j sandwich by now.

"Another please." I asked.

"Sure sweetie." I think I ate 3 sandwich's that night. I was out for 3 days apparently but all of my bruises are healed completely its like I didn't even have them which was good because I was start school tomorrow.  I couldn't wait to see school and go with Maddie and Jack. I think Layton was even going so that was good too. I caught him staring at me while I was eating a couple of times. I would look back and smile its only nice that I am nice to him he did save my life and I owe him mines. That night when I went to bed my mom snuggled with me this time but something was wrong. I had fell asleep but the nightmare went to my dad kicking me in my stomach over and over again. I jumped out of my sleep and my mom was still sleeping. I wanted to smell the fresh cut cedar wood after a summer rain. I wanted Layton. I got out my bed careful not to wake my mom and I followed my nose to his room. When I found it I opened the door and he was laying there on his bed without a shirt and basketball shorts. When he heard the door open he jumped up.

"Rosie are you okay!" He looked worried looking around his room...like he was looking for something.

"Yes. I cant sleep." I paused. "I kept having nightmares". His eyes went from alert to soft. His facial reactions are becoming my favorite to look at. He pulled the covers back and patted the bed.

"You can sleep with me if you like." I climbed into the bed with him and the min my nose smelled the cedar wood I got physically mentally and emotionally tired. I sighed a big sigh and pulled the covers back over me.

"Thank you Layton...for everything" He paused before he answered

"No problem."
