I walked with Feren through the halls of Mirkwood, keeping my steps purposely slow, taking my precious time. Everything looked the same as it used to be, nothing changed besides for the once jubilant atmosphere. The halls me and Thranduil ran through together, getting away from all living to be alone. The memory pained me to much to think about. We walked up many stairs and each step we assended I grew more nervous. We neared the throne and I suddenly paused in my steps as a deep voice rung out.
"Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand. A quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon."
Thranduil.
Feren grabbed my hand giving me a reassuring smile, pulling me to continue up the stairs.
"Attempted burglary or something of that ilk." Thranduil continued.
He must of been interveiwing one of the dwarves. I thought as I could feel one of there presence.
Me and Feren finally got to the top if the stairs and there I saw him. His back faced us and he was much taller then he used to be. The way he spoke, he sounded more angrier not a single mischievous way to word.
He was looking down at Thorin who looked pissed off just the same and when he went to move around him, facing our direction I quickly dived behind Feren.
"You found a way in. You seek in which would bestow upon you to rule, the kings jewl. The Arkenstone. It is precious to you beond messure. I understand that."
I peeked out at Thranduil who now sat back in his throne.
"There are gems in the mountain.... White gems of pure starlight. I offer you my help." Thranduil said and moved his gaze over to Feren and for a second his blue piercing eyes lock with my (e/c) ones. He knew exactly whos eyes he was looking into, he could feel my pressence. For a second shock and sadness washed over his face but quickly he regained himself and glared back down at Thorin.
"I am listening." Replied Thorin
Thranduil tilted his head with a smirk. "I will let you go. If you but return what is mine."
"A favor for a favor." Thorin said.
"You have my word. One king to another." Thranduil said
I could sense Thorin growing mad.
"I would not trust..." Thorin began. "Thranduil, the great king, to honor his word! To the end of all days! YOU!" He pointed accusations at Thranduil and continued. "Lack all honor! I have seen how you treat all your friends... we came to you once, starving, homeless. Looking for your help, but you turned your back! You turned away from the suffering of my people. And the inferno destroyed us." He spat.
I watched as Thranduils face twisted with anger and he jumped down lowering his face to thorins level, sneering in his face.
"Do not talk to me of dragon fire! I know it's wrath and ruin."
His face distorted and it seemed as it he winced in pain and suddenly the side of his face revealed an injury of which half his face was burned off. The flesh was chared and his eyes appeared white, as if he were blind in one eye.
I gasped loud enough for him to hear. I never knew he had to carry that burden with him. No one told me.
He glanced over in my direction but continued talking with thorin. "I have faced the great serpents of the north." He pulled away standing tall and the scar disappeared, "I warned your grandfather of what his greed would summon. But he would not listen." He went up the steps to his throne as he continued. "You are just like him." He waved his guards to grab ahold of the dwarf king. "Stay here and rot. A hundred years is a mere blink in the life of an elf. Im patient... I can wait." He fished his speech and sat down, lazily onto his throne.
