Chapter 5

Herb's pov

It was 9 in the morning, and I was waving goodbye to a costumer. Currently, there were 4 other people who were looking around in my shop. I decided to sit down, and daydream for a bit when the door swung open. I glanced up to see Sparkling looking around the shop.

I blinked in surprise, I didn't realize he was going to come here. That's when I realized last night he said he would be coming over to visit my shop! Oh god, what will he think of my work attire? I was wearing a brown shirt with a white collar and rolled up white under sleeves and brown pants. I also had a white apron on with a tiny green plant design on the center of it. Suddenly he noticed me and decided to saunter over to me with a grin on his face that made me blush.

"Hello!" He greeted me, "Your shop looks fantastic! You also look adorable like your plants."

I flushed red and quickly turned into a tomato. Did he just call me cute?  I thought incredulously, and I felt my heart beat faster. 

He looked at me and quickly mumbled, "I meant you outfit looks really cutely designed, and it looks really good on you. Wait, no I didn't mean that. I mean, you do look cute, I mean... I just- I'm just gonna shut up now."

"T-thanks, still," I gave him a small smile, "You look nice in your outfit too."

Now it was his turn to blush, and he returned the smile. Actually it looked more like he was going to faint from happiness. He was looking up with a wobbly smile and dazed look. Though, it wasn't a lie that he looked good. He wore a simple yellow collared top with half sleeves. The collar and end of his sleeves were white, like my shirt. He also had white pants and brown shoes.

"How much would these be?" a girl with white and blonde hair asked me, and showed me a bouquet of daisies.

"Seven dollars, "I replied, and took the cash from her.

After she left, Sparkling turned to me, "Soo can I have your number, since.. y'know.."

"Ah, that's right, give me a sec.." I said and took out my lime green planty phone.

After we exchanged numbers, we chatted for a bit. Every now and then a new costumer would come in, or someone would purchase a flower from me. After a bit, he brought up about a festival coming up.

"Do you want to come with me and my friends?" he asked, "I promise it would be lots of fun!"

"Hmm, when is it?" I asked curiously, "It does sound fun, but what's it about?"

"Basically there would be rides, games, food stalls, and fun activities," he explained, "A concert is being hosted by my friend, Mint choco. Parfait will also be playing in it. I canceled my bar for the night before, during, and after the festival since there would be many people there."

"That sounds awesome, I probably should say closed for that time as well," I exclaimed.

"Mhm," he hummed, "It's on September the 30th to the morning of October 1st."

"That's only a week away!" I said worriedly, "Do I need to prepare anything? I need to finish up my garden too.."

"No, just money for the Carnival tickets, games, and food," Sparkling chuckled, "Mint is getting me, Vampire, and Cocoa V.I.P seats since we are is closest friends. I'm hosting an after party. Maybe you can close your shop days earlier to finish your garden?"

"Perhaps," I sighed, "And you are luckyyy. How much is the price?"

"Oh! No need to worry about that, It's free," Sparkling rushed, "I may be able to convince him to let you get V.I.P."

"Oh no- I can't possib-" I said, but got interrupted by yet another costumer.

"Sorry, one sec," I turned to Sparkling.

He nodded and took out his phone and I went over to the new person.

"Bye!" I waved to the leaving costumer. 

The second they left, four more people rushed in. They had red, minty green, poofy brown, and lastly white hair.

"Hello!" I gestured them over, "What are you guys doin here?"

"Sparkling invited us," Cocoa giggled, "He's too nervous to be by hi-"

"So! Glad you guys could make it!" Sparkling said loudly.

"I heard you wanted to come to the concert! I'll gladly give you a free admission," Mint said smiling, "Sparkling is hosting the after party anyways, soo."

"Aww," Vampire whined, "What about my boyfriendsss."

"It's alriht, plus you know Licorice wouldn't make it," the white hair person soothed, while examining my shop, "Cute set-up."

"Then I'll sit with him!" Vampire announced to us.

"Thanks," I smiled softly, while Mint rolled his eyes at Vampires comment, "By the way, what's you na-"

I stopped, realizing who I was talking too. Whitish green hair, long white eyelashes and teal green eyes. Clover!

"OH MY GOD CLOVER!?" I yelled surprised.

"Herb!?" Clover exclaimed, "You moved to the vanilla kingdom?!"

I jumped up from my seat, and rushed from behind the counter to him. I practically baralled into him, giving him a tight hug.

"I missed you so much!" I yelled, "How have you been?"

"Amazing. Vampire is one of my boyfriends now," he said grinning, "And you? How has your family been?"

"Great, I just moved 4 days ago," I beamed, "My family has been doing great. They're gonna visit soon!"

"Oh uhm, we should get going," Sparkling coughed.

I looked at him annoyed, but then stopped at the look on his face. Was he.. jealous? I glanced at Vampire's face, and although he was drunk as always, he looked kind of pouty as well.

"Mhm," Vampire slurred, "come on clovieee."

As they left, I heard Clover say, "Vampy, don't be jealous. I love you and Licorice. Herb's my childhood friend, and It's been a long time since I've seen him."

"You too~" Cocoa sang from a short distance, her voice trailing off into, "Stop pouting sp.."

Then everything muted into quietness. It was almost 2 now. Now to prepare for the festival. It's cool how my mums were going to pop up with Sorbet on Aug the 2nd. Too bad they can't be there at the festivals. Now I just needed to finish my garden before winter so the plants can sprout right after. I better close my shop for a week from 28th- the 3rd..

Sparkling's pov

" Stop being jealous Sparkling," Cocoa giggled and I crossed my arms.

"I am not jealous!" I protested crossing my arms.

"Suree," Mint rolled his eyes, and I turned away.

Maybe I was jealous, but I will not admit it. Damn, Herb looked amazing in his outfit. I can't believe I acted like a complete idiot in front of him. Like, what? I never acted like that in front of ANYONE. It's more like the other way around for me.

Herb.. you're like a Juliet rose. You make me feel butterflies and you make me love like Juliet and Romeo. You're one of a kind, and you bloom in my mind. 

I think I'm in love and I want you to feel the same..
