" So. What's with you and Potter?" Barty asked in the middle of breakfast, making Severus stop mid bite.

" Huh?"

" Yeah huh?" Regulus asked ever so nosy and Barty laughed.

" Peter stopped me to ask about you. Apparently Potter has a crush."

" Not on me." Severus shook his head and Barty mirrored him.

" Definitely on you."

" Nope."

" Are you serious?" Regulus asked and Barty nodded.

" He wants to impress Severus."

" Oh my god." Regulus laughed and covered his mouth with his hand.

" No no. He just broke up with his girlfriend, that's impossible."

" Damn Snape. It's like you want the Gryffindors to hate you." Regulus teased and Severus shook him off.

" First off, I never said that and second, that isn't true." He pointed at Barty with his fork and Barty had a smirk on his face.

" You're in denial Snape. I was literally there when he confirmed it."

" Plus stealing their golden boy right after the Gryffindor sweethearts broke up is a snake move."

Severus rolled his eyes and just looked down.

" Lies."

" Seriously. Don't worry though i already told him you liked someone."

" What? Why?" Severus asked seriously and Barty knot his eyebrows.

" Because you do?"

" But-"

" You can't seriously think he actually likes you." Lucius scoffed from nearby and Regulus sighed.

" Shut up Malfoy, nobody is talking to you."

" Yeah yeah, make me the bad guy."

" You are a bad guy." Severus retorted and that seemed to make him butt out of the conversation.

" Seriously I think he likes you."

" Yeah right." Severus scoffed at Barty's blatant announcement.

" Just saying." Barty raised both hands and the topic died down.

Severus wasn't about to get his hopes up for nothing.

It was a normal history class when a paper airplane flew into his desk. He looked up to the front of the class to see James smiling at him, his lips pulled close together.

" open it." He mouthed and Severus sighed.

He did and what he saw was completely unnecessary but not unwanted.
