I can still back out from this right? I talked to myself.
Two days ago, I received an email from this hospital. Inviting me to apply here and now I'm here for the initial screening. Kaya lang, gusto ko na ata agad mag back out.
"Oh, shit!" I blurted in a low voice. Tumayo na ako sa kinauupuan ko. That's it.
"Abrielle," Aydan called me.
"Hey. Ikaw pala yan," I greeted him, smiling awkwardly.
Aydan smiled. "I'm a fellow here. You. Nakauwi ka na pala?"
Oh, he's a doctor too.
I nodded. "Yep. Hmm... J-just three days ago."
I smiled again and I know I look constipated.
Aydan Elliot Claveria. One of Grant's friends.
"Why are you here anyway?" He asked.
"Uh. I... I received an email the other day. I was invited to apply," I answered, not sure if I should tell him that.
Aydan extended his hand to me, asking for the folder I was holding. "Let me see," he said.
Hesitantly, I gave it to him. "I don't think I'll get in, though." I said.
"I don't think so," he said. "Your records are impressive. The management will not want to miss a talented doctor like you." He added, closing my folder.
"I have to go now," ani niya.
Tumango naman ako. "Sige lang," I said.
"Welcome back, Bree. See you around." Dagdag niya pa bago tuluyang umalis. May kasama pang kindat.
And I don't know what happened but on the same day, I got an email saying that I got accepted in the hospital.
Ito ba yung sinabi ni Aydan na see you around?
Along with the email is the list of the requirements I needed me to submit. And honestly, I had been thinking if I would proceed or not.
This is my dream coming true, but how can I continue when I know that there would be a threat to it. Accepting the offer is also accepting the risk of meeting him. And I am not sure if I should risk it.
"Tangina," I couldn't help but blurted.
Today's the day I need to report in the hospital, this will also serve as my first day as a resident doctor. And I couldn't focus on what I should do first to prepare myself to go to work.
Work. I will be working as a doctor now and damn it! I couldn't be happy about this achievement.
"If you are that hesitant to go, then do not go," Lia said.
"You know I can't," I answered.
Backing out is no longer part of the options because apparently, my mother found out that I am already back and she was already forcing me to go home--which obviously, I will not do. I don't want to. Going home means giving them a chance to proceed, as well, with the wedding. So, to stop my mother from forcing me, I blurted about going to Saint Lawrence Hospital. That stopped her for seconds until she continued blubbering about how proud the Samaniegos would be.
