Sophie's visits became frequent as we planned. Palagi siyang nauuna sa opisina ko tuwing may schedule ng check-up si Grant para doon sila magkikita habang ginagawa ko naman ang trabaho sa ibang pasyente.
Sophie is doing her part greatly—I am close to believe that this is really her forte, that she can be an actress if she pursues it.
"Why is she here again?" Grant asked in a low voice but enough for the people inside my office to hear it.
I rolled my eyes. "Shut your mouth, Grant. Surely, you don't want people to hear about your true self," I warned him. And this asshole arched his brow on me in return.
"My true self?" he smirked. "I haven't shown them, Bree."
Rolling my eyes again, I said, "Right. Your fans will be absolutely disgusted by you when they find out who's the real you. And when that happens, your career will be over."
Hearing that, he chuckles. "You think I'm scared? Damn..." he murmured more but I wasn't able to hear it. I just watched him give me that serious stare.
I arched my brows and said, "You really are an asshole." I turned my back on him. Leaving him on that spot and walking to where Sophie was.
"Go and talk to him," I told her, it was almost a whisper.
Sophie moved immediately to approach him. I glanced at them and I saw fast Grant's brows furrowed. I just shook my head and continued my work.
"I saw your show last night; the reality show?" Sophie began. "You were so cool in there—not that you are not now—but God! You looked so hot-hot in there. It's just kind of disappointing that you didn't win, though."
Grant's face remained impassive as Sophie complimented him on his appearance on the reality show. He nodded curtly, seemingly unaffected by her words. "Yeah, it was a tough competition," he replied, his voice lacking enthusiasm. "Winning or losing, it doesn't really matter now."
Sophie's smile faltered for a moment, sensing his indifference. She tried to maintain the conversation, but Grant's responses remained curt and distant. It was clear that he wasn't interested in engaging with her or anyone else at that moment. But Sophie isn't the kind that will give up on anything that easily. So, despite the attitude Grant is showing towards her, she still continued conversing with him.
But despite Sophie's best efforts, Grant remained cold and unresponsive, maintaining his distant demeanor. It was clear that he wasn't willing to let Sophie in or establish any connection with her.
Feeling a sense of discomfort and sensing Sophie's frustration, I decided to intervene. Clearing my throat, I spoke up, telling Grant that we will start his check-up now. Hearing that, he immediately stood and walked towards where I was.
Glaring, I told him, "You're being rude to Ms. Sophie. She just wants to have a conversation with you."
He arched his brow. "You think I will not notice what you are doing?"
I arched my brow as well. "Doing what?"
Smirking, he answered, "Try harder, Bree."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not doing anything aside from performing my duties, Mr. Samaniego."
"Is letting her inside your office every time I'm here part of your duties?" He asks.
"Her check-up is before yours. So, it's normal that she's here. Besides, your manager seems to like her. It's not even a problem to her," I replied.
"It is to me," he said.
"It's your problem then," I said as I rolled my eyes again and started checking him. I leaned on him to check his eyes. He still complains of having headaches.
