My whole system shook upon seeing who's beside Aydan. I was already expecting this to happen, but I never thought this would happen this soon. Hindi man lang ako nakapag handa.
With furrowed brows and unfathomable eyes, Grant Alexus watched me. Blood is all over his forehead and shirt. My breathing hitched seeing that. And finding no words, I asked, "Bakit ako?"
Aydan arched his brow. "Bakit hindi ikaw?"
"It's... It's my first day and I haven't introduced myself to anyone," I answered, trying my best to avoid looking at the man beside him.
"This is an emergency, Bree. We don't need formalities here right now. That can wait for later," he said. He reached for my hand and put on the gloves. "Stitch him up now, Bree. Bago pa may makapansin na nandito ang isang itong at magkagulo," he added before stepping out the E.R, leaving me with this man.
Oh, my god.
Okay, Abrielle. Breathe in, breathe out. It was just him. You can't act crazy in front of him. You can't show him you're affected by his mere presence. You need to act tough—no. You need to be tough. I told myself, calming.
You're a doctor, Bree and he is your patient.
I sighed and started sanitizing my head before wearing the gloves. I can see him still watching my every move but I chose not to mind it. I need to act unaffected. I need to show him nothing.
I hold the forceps to get cotton balls before turning to face him. "I'm going to clean your wound first before I stitch it," I said, stepping closer to him.
He nodded.
I sighed again and started cleaning his wound. I was careful as I did that but every time the cotton ball touched his wound, he flinched. Okay. It's deep, I understand. That is why it needed to be stitched up. But this will stay long if he continues doing that.
Sighing, for the third time, I said. "Can I touch your chin?" I asked, losing patience. "I mean, I need to hold it so I can do this properly," I added.
"Sure. You can touch me," he answered, huskily.
I nodded and with my hand shaking, I held his chin. I lifted it up, enough to give me the best view of his wound.
"I will start stitching now," I said. "Just keep your head in the position."
"Alright," he answered, voice still husky. He sounds like he just woken up.
I started stitching his wound. "What happened here?" I asked as I worked on it. It's a deep laceration just above his left brow that needed three stitches. I glanced at him when he didn't answer, only to catch him looking at me, watching me with those brown eyes.
I cleared my voice. "I need to record this procedure so, I have to know what's the cause," I said. "Can you tell me what happened?" I repeated.
He nodded. "Just a prop fell on my head," he answered.
"A prop?" I confirmed.
"I was at the taping. A prop suddenly fell from above me," he clarified.
"What kind of prop is it that cuts your skin open?"
"Lighting."
"Lighting equipment?" I asked and when he arched his brow as an answer, stepped back. "Jesus, Grant. That's not a prop, that's an equipment that might cause you hemorrhage," I said. "I'm scheduling you for a CT-scan."
"Uh... I already did. Aydan took me there earlier," he said. "Don't worry," he added and that was like cold water being splashed on me.
Oh, goodness.
