"I better get going mom, or else I'd be late for school." I exclaimed.
I had just moved to this town a month ago as my old town had just one school- Brooklyn high which hadn't failed to make my life a living hell not to mention how everything came crashing down two years back.
________________________I looked in the mirror. 'Perfect' I thought to myself. I wore a dark blue oversized T-shirt followed by a pair of shorts, net stockings and boots. My waist length straight brown hair was tied up in a high ponytail which really brought out my dark elegant eyes. I put on my best makeup and headed to the front door with excitement filled inside me.
"Okay dear, but don't forget to pick up Kate on your way. Have fun on your first day of high school" Mom said while waving a good bye.
Kate Everton has been my best friend ever since kindergarten. We were almost the same age- 17, Although I was a couple months older. Her parents agreed to move to this town as Kate too went through hell just as I did. We both were basically inseparable.
"Okay Mom," i smiled making her smile back.
"Woah this place is so beautiful, much better than my old town," I mumbled to myself. The town was filled with trees and greenery, the sound of sweet birds chriping from every corner of the pathway soothed my ears with the scent of beautiful flowers from a nearby flower shop. It was nothing like my old town where there were just sounds of cars honking and construction and buildings only buildings!!
I was too busy admiring nature's beauty that i hadn't even realised I reached Kate's house. Her house was a lot bigger than mine. I kept staring at how beautiful it was that I had forgotten the reason I was there. Although her house was amazing we enjoyed spending time at mine the last couple of days, watching TV and just laying around as it was a lot quieter with dad and mom being at work and Zack just playing video games all day.
I rung the door bell and waited for her to open the door. She opened it as soon as she heard the doorbell ring. I was quite fascinated by her outfit and makeup. She wore a short creamish skirt and a dazzling light coloured off-shoulder top which she knew suited her best. We were the complete opposite when it came to fashion. She liked bright coloured short clothes whereas I never really cared about what I looked like as long as I was comfortable.
Her beautiful blonde straight hair was let down and her makeup was stunning. By looking at her i could tell she was thinking the exact same thing about me.
"Hey Kate, you ready?" I asked Kate who was holding a croissant in her hand.
"Finally you're here, I've been waiting for ages," Kate said with a bit of laughter.
"And I've been waiting for decades for you to open the door" I said and we both giggled.
"Want some?" Kate asked offering the croissant to me while closing the front door.
"Sure, but we better leave now. We don't wanna be late on our first day" I grinned.
We began to walk not knowing it would take forever for us to reach. I turned to Kate to see a concerned look on her face.
"So Evelyn what do you think our new school will be like?" Kate asked hoping it wouldn't be like Brooklyn high.
"Don't worry Kate everything will be fine." I reassured her.
I knew she was scared and I was too but I couldn't let her know. After all at least one of us had to be strong and I knew it had to be me.
"I hope so" She replied.
I patted her shoulder "We should not think much about the past, let's look forward to what Crestwood heights has to offer".
"You're right if we think more about it things may just get worse" Kate said while checking her phone.
