"Ty-Tyler?" I gulped.
"Surprised to see me?" He smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"What are you doing here?" I blurted out, my heart racing.
"Well, Miss Paper Girl, it seems we'll be spending some quality time together after school," he said, leaning against the doorframe. "I'm your assistant for the after-school activity."
I groaned internally. Of all the people, why did it have to be him? But then I realized what I had heard, 'Miss paper girl'.
He seemed to have noticed that what he said completely switched me off, "Relax, you don't have to pay me now besides, I'm in a good mood." He laughed hysterically.
I didn't know whether he was telling the truth or not. What if this was a part of his plan for revenge? How could I trust him? But I knew I couldn't avoid him forever and had to face the consequence for what I did although it was just throwing bits of paper. Only if he wasn't this special I wouldn't be standing here right now sweating my palms out. "Well Mr. Assistant, if you say so." I'm sure anyone could tell how hard I was trying to sound 'fine' when I definitely wasn't.
Tyler seemed to relish my discomfort. "Don't look so thrilled," he chuckled. "Come on, let's get this over with."
We walked in silence down the corridor. Tyler kept glancing at me, his smirk never wavering. I couldn't shake off the feeling that he enjoyed making me uncomfortable.
When we reached the activity room, it was filled with students working on various projects. Tyler led me to a corner where a group was preparing decorations for an upcoming event.
"Here we are," he said. "Let's get started with these banners."
As we worked, Tyler's teasing demeanor softened slightly. He actually seemed to be quite skilled at organizing and managing the tasks. It was almost... impressive.
"Why are you helping with this?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity.
He shrugged. "Just doing my part. Plus, it's kind of fun."
I raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Yeah, really," he said, a genuine smile breaking through his usual smirk. "You might even enjoy it too, if you give it a chance."
For the next two hours, we worked together, and I found myself actually having fun. Tyler's presence, while initially irritating, became less so as he focused on the tasks at hand. It was almost like he was a different person when he wasn't trying to get under my skin.
When we finished, he turned to me. "See, that wasn't so bad, was it?"
I shrugged, trying to hide my smile. "I guess not."
After that we walked out of the school and stood near the entrance. I looked at the clock which was on the school wall, it was around 6 pm and I was damn hungry. Well, too much for Tyler to hear my stomach growling.
"Wanna catch a bite?" He asked not looking in my direction as though his mind was on something else.
I was embarrassed at what just happened "uhh... It's getting late. I better head home." I said nervously rubbing my elbow.
"Very well. I'll drop you off." He said before walking. He doesn't even know where to go.
What? No absolutely not. Getting Tyler to walk me home was the last thing I would want him to do. "Its a 45 minute walk if you're up for it." I said knowing there was no way he would come with me knowing it was this far.
"What? You're kidding right?". He questioned hoping I was actually joking with him.
"No." I said casually without hesitating for even a moment.
