"Sadie, can I invite my boyfriend? I don't want to feel like a third wheel," retorted Claire
Dylan just laughed and Sadie smiled. "Of course you can invite him," they all laughed.
When Claire's boyfriend Luke showed up they all hung out and watched a movie. They all watched Poltergeist, Sadie and Claire kept screaming and the guys would laugh.
The movie ended, and they were out of popcorn. Claire suggested that they all go out for burgers and fries.
While they were in the car Dylan and Sadie sat in the back while Claire drove. Sadie turned the music almost all the way up and she and Claire sang along loudly. Dylan looked at Sadie while she was singing, she felt eyes on her so she looked at him. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. The music was turned up in the front of the car so Claire and Luke were out of earshot.
"I love you too," Sadie finally responded.
He smiled at her for a few minutes as she smiled back. The light from the stars poured into the car, lighting up their faces.
"Can you come with me to chemo tomorrow, I'm really nervous," she asked.
"Of course," he smiled.
The next day Sadie packed her things for the hospital, she realized that meant she finally had to tell Claire about her cancer. She called Claire and she was going to be there in 10 minutes.
When Claire arrived she had bags under her eyes and her hair was a mess. Her chocolate brown hair stuck out on all sides of her head. It looked like she had been up all night.
"YOU DIDNT!" exclaimed Sadie
"I did," giggled Claire.
"Okay I won't judge because I have an hour and some really important news," Sadie retorted.
"What is it?" Claire asked, concerned.
"I have Acute Myeloid Leukemia," Sadie said as tears streamed down her face dripping onto her shirt.
