He opened one eye expecting to see a horrifying monster. Instead he saw what looked like a gentle old engine. He opened both eyes and stared in awe. A large engine who looked like parts was simply thrown onto him. The steam engine was right in front of him. He suddenly turned into a humanoid form. "Sorry if I scared you" he apologised. Even in this form he was still massively tall. He wondered how an engine he had never seen before that looked very old was still working and was able to move. The engine smiled at him. "Uh hello" Thomas finally spoke up. "I am Hiro," the engine in front of him said.

He felt that because he had shown himself in his humanoid form so should he. So he did. "What are you doing out here, Hiro?" Thomas asked. " I've lived here a long time, ever since I came to this island, but I started to break down and they were running out of parts, they would have scrapped me if I didn't hide" Hiro said. "Scrapped? But why?" Thomas questioned. "Because they scrap old engines, I've seen it before from where I am from," Hiro answered. Thomas thought to himself, Edward is old too, but he hasn't been scrapped, neither was Toby or Duck or any of the old engines he knew. "Where were you from Hiro?" Thomas asked. "A faraway Island called Japan, I was a favourite engine of my home, they used to call me master of the railway before I came here" Hiro smiled.

"Wow, and you've been hiding here the whole time! I'm sorry Hiro, now might have been a bad time to find you... there's a story going around that an engine in the woods makes other engines disappear and many engines we know have gone missing, like Donald, Douglas, Oliver, Spencer, and Diesel 10" Thomas explained. "Oh dear, I had no idea such things had been happening" Hiro said, he still had a soft smile, he didn't seem very expressive.

"What is your name?" Hiro asked. "Oh! I'm so sorry that it was rude of me to never introduce myself and ask so many questions before, my name is Thomas" the blue engine answered. "Nice to meet a new friend, I haven't had any friends since I left Japan" Hiro said. "Your friends.... Do you know where they have gone missing?" Hiro asked. "Yes, well Spencer at least, He went here yesterday and never came back, I heard a mysterious whistle here" Thomas said. Hiro continued to stare Thomas in the eyes, still smiling. The blue engine started to feel rather uncomfortable by it.

"I'll keep an eye out for them!" Hiro said. "Thank you, that would be good help, wait how have you not been caught by the engine and still remain out here?" Thomas started to become suspicious of him. "I am good at hiding and I'm a quiet engine, I wouldn't make any use of the engine" Hiro answered. Thomas suddenly heard footsteps nearby startling him and Hiro was alerted by them too. "It's him! The engine! You must go now!" Hiro said he looked a little panicked. "Wait what!? What about you? Will you be okay?!" Thomas asked worriedly. "Yes, I have been alright many times before, now hurry go my new friend!" Hiro said before turning back into his engine form.

Thomas ran as first as he could to turn back into his standard steam engine form. He heard him being followed. He saw silver engine parts. He knew that something got Spencer. He worried more for Hiro. He finally got out of the forest. Looking behind him one last time before turning and going home. When he met up back there.

The engines look defeated. "We couldn't find any of the missing engines," Edward said. Thomas puffed up. "Huh THOMAS! You're okay!" Percy said worriedly. The other engines took notice of him. "Gordon rushed back here he looked frightened and he left you behind, I was so worried you would go missing!" Percy said. "I'm okay now Percy. "hello....Thomas....did you find Spencer?" Gordon hesitated to ask. Thomas didn't answer. "I don't think he will be coming back". " I saw an engine out there though, he said he had been hiding from the engine and had been there for years, he was really old, we heard someone come towards us out there, he said it was the engine and I had to leave him behind! I'm worried! Who knows who else will be next!" Thomas said. "Wait.... You found and spoke to an engine out there and engine you did not know?!" Henry asked. "Um... well he looked really nice and old! He was called master of the railway from where he was from! He was from Japan! He said he had to hide because they didn't have many of the parts they needed to fix him, and he said they would scrap him, so he has been hiding" Thomas explained. The others looked at one another. "They wouldn't scrap any engines here," Emily said. "Well.... They used Emily, a lot of engines actually were scrapped, engines that could no longer work or they didn't need anymore" Edward said. "It would only make sense if he really was hiding, what doesn't make sense is how we are just now finding him after all these disappearances, you said you both saw the engine?" Edward questioned. "Well.. I didn't see it... but I heard someone else walking there and he said it was the engine" Thomas said. "But how would he know if you said that he had been hiding?" Edward questioned. Thomas hadn't thought about it. "What if Thomas saw the engine!" Percy questioned. "That....thing...we sas before I puffed away before you, that was Hiro?" Gordon asked. "You saw it too Gordon?" Henry asked. "I only saw two eyes from something that looked big, that told me it was time for me to leave! I am too dignified and grand to go missing out in the woods!" Gordon said. Even though he spoke with such pride like this, he, like the other engines, was just as worried about the situation. "No one should go near those woods, Especially you Thomas, you don't know what could happen" Edward said. The other engines agreed. "But Sir Topham Hatt said we needed to find the missing engines! I mean we can't give up on all of them! Besides you guys were the ones who didn't believe the story! I did when Henry told it!" Thomas argued. "I believed you," Percy spoke. "Thomas, we didn't believe such things would happen on this island but now we do know and its dangerous! We can not risk anything, Sodor needs it's number 1 engine" Edward said, finalising the argument. Thomas didn't reply; he glared at the ground and steamed angrily. All the engines went to sleep

Edward normally woke up before any of the other engines at Tidmouth sheds. This morning when he awoke he saw Thomas leaving. He had an Idea of where he was going. He called out to Percy quietly wanting to get him awake. The green engine opened his eyes and looked at Edward. "Follow him, make sure he doesn't go to those woods" Edward whispered. "Follow Thomas?" Percy questioned. "Yes, your his best friend, you can surely convince him" Edward reassured. " Alright.... I will!" he said and he puffed quietly and in a hurry to catch up to Thomas.
